I did consider that, but knowing me, they will be much more likely to get scuffed from getting in and out or just the eventual rust, rather than damage from impacts or actually sliding on anything while off-roading. Most of my off road driving is trails, dirt road, and some mud. I would figure for that kind of wear that the powder coat would be a bit more rugged. Would you disagree on that?

If you can find a reasonable price I'd recommend powder. I am mean to my armor and I prefer powder to spray can. Spraying armor is no fun and you will probably do a shitty job anyways. Red Dirt Coatings is owned by a Tacoma guy that several of us like if you are on the north side of town, he's in Little Elm last I heard.

Note that if you use them, make sure you mask or plug anything you don't want coated.
I used them for my spindles and none of that was done, making install much more labor intensive.

I’m curious on the function and quality. I don’t hate the look.

What’s the point of a snorkel if it isn’t obvious enough that people you ask you how often you drive through water allowing you to respond "Ackchyually, snorkels are for driving in dusty conditions like in the Australian outback"

At its core, the intention of a snorkel is: To raise the level of the air intake to reduce the chance of water entering your engine when crossing water. A higher air intake will reduce the amount of dust entering the system. To allow cooler air to enter your engine.

I mean i like it... but im just going to throw water and mud into the side intake if im going the right speed or stuck. Dont think that is a good idea. But that happens with the snorkel i have now also... Noticed it when i did a full cover on my truck at crossbar. I think it would have been worse if i had this snorkel though.

This one looks like a diesel guy wanted a smoke stack on his taco... with some 4" PVC, heat gun, and some chrome spray paint i think i can make something close to this...

I guess I could powder coat it so it doesn’t look like a modernized diesel stack

They offer it with black powder coat. I would go that route if I ever get one. Its the lines and less bulk of this one that I like compared to the other options available for 3rd gens. I dont love the look of snorkels but at some point may have to get one because function>form if I get to the point of needing to remove my fender liners.

I might just build twin 4” stacks through my camper and hang some bull balls of receiver hitch and be cool AF.
