I slept right through it. My wife got up and stood in the doorway. Proof because it's funny as hell.

Oh shit! That's funny! You must be a heavy sleeper.
My ex-girlfreind would have slapped me awake.

What's going on with you? I hope work is busy so you can make up for lost time.

Things are good. Just cruised up Butttermilk Loop this morning to get out for a bit.

Works back in full swing. Of course my boss still wants to try and meet the original Nov deadline to finish our current project. He suggested working 10's and OT Fri/Sat to try and make it happen. I told him that wasn't an option and to inform the homeowner they won't be in for X-Mas. lol

Where are you working? Is this a new build?
Not up for the OT, huh? Don't blame ya', it gets old in a hurry.

The job is up in Mammoth on Davidson. It was my bosses "signature" home. I was working on another job over on Ranch Rd before the 5 week break. They are both multi million dollar jobs but Ranch was where I've been for the last 2 years. It's basically finished at this point. Just some flooring needs to be installed then the CO will be received.

When we went back to work my boss pulled me over to Davidson to run it. We had a company meeting last Friday and he let everyone know I was in charge of Davidson. That happened because for a signature home it is far from a perfect build. So I get to spend my time cleaning up others mistakes. That's the role I fill for my company. Something goes wrong? I get called in.

We've never really worked OT and it's actually been a long standing company policy that no OT is allowed. I don't really mind OT but I also manage my finances well enough that I don't really need it. My saying no was more of me waving my middle finger in the air for my unwanted 5 weeks off. I've had this convo with my boss. I don't agree with what he chose to do. I do understand why he chose to do it though. I can respect that just like he can respect me saying no to the OT.

I really like the homeowners on this job. He's a mechanical engineer for nuclear site builds. IE, one smart dude. I met him months ago when I got called over to Davidson to build a 2 story covered deck that needed more brain power then was currently on site. It took me a week and 2 weeks where scheduled for that part of the build. When I left the homeowner told my boss he was super thankful to have me on the job. That's a big part of why I'm over there full time now. Since there's a lot of mutual respect between him and I my secret plan is to have them in by Nov 31st. I'm pretty sure I can achieve that goal without working OT. If I need to in Oct we will but it will be my choice not my bosses. lol

If you are running a project and you're the go-to guy, I hope those things are reflected in your paycheck.
Now, I agree with your no OT stance because it has been policy. Funny how managers/supervisors switch up when things go sideways. Sure, it's a practical tool (sometimes), but it can come off as "a policy change is OK as long as it benefits the company." I see both sides of that coin.
I hope everything goes smooth for ya'!

I see both sides as well. My boss and I don't always agree on things but we get along great because we can see the others point of view. I'm super happy where I'm at and I get paid very well. The only way I get paid more is if I move out of town and become a project manager. That ain't gonna happen. lol

Good! Don't chase that money. It's a crappy road to go down. Quality of life trumps money every day of the week.

And that is exactly why I live here. Getting paid well is just a bonus for years of hard work to be the best hammer swinger I could be. lol

There's a lot of smaller quakes in the last 30 minutes around the Ridgecrest/Trona area.
