AC stopped working

    Bad move you cannot just add refrigerant it can not be done properly without a gauge set and knowing what the outside temp is and again it has nothing to do with the blower running if it's low the compressor will not turn but the blower will run. You will need someone with a gauge set to properly charge the system now or you will have even bigger issues.

    I wanted to share. I had the exact opposite problem as everyone else. After searching for a while I thought this thread might be the right place to put my experience. My '12 taco was not running when on high but worked in the other settings. I checked all the connections down by the blower and they looked good. My connection at the back of hvac panel was not good. I cleaned it up with some fine grit paper and alcohol. Dabbed a little dielectric grease and now it's good. Not sure for how long and don't know why it happened but fingers crossed.     Why the dielectric grease?

    Dielectric grease is a non conductor.

    Another option is a slight bend in the male pin or a thin coat of solder to tighten up the connection.

    What causes the burning is a loose connection between the male and female terminals acting like a heater. Unless corrected the problem will return.

    I thought so too. Loose connection would cause more resistance which would cause more heat, correct? I did bend it slightly but thin coat of solder is a good idea, thanks.

    If the question was for me, no. Because it was working on all other settings I didn't check the fuses. I figured they wouldn't separate each setting and put them on separate fuses. It is working now but I think I will be following jimmyh suggestion of tightening the connection with a small amount of solder. I should have checked tho

    Yes loose connection is resistance to current flow and Decipitates energy causing heat.

    In simple terms it becomes a heating element.
