Does anyone know where I can purchase a blower motor resistor for my 2005 tacoma 2wd prerunner? The dealership shows an upgrade to the part from a inline configuration to a square setup, my truck has the inline version and converting to a square plug looks like I need to do some electrical work and that is not my gig. Thanks

Pretty sure any auto parts store will have what you're looking for. A quick search on Autozone's website has it for $40.

The resistor is only 1/2 the problem. The connector is the other half. You need to replace the connector for a complete repair.

Is there a known issue with the connectors for these resistors failing as well? I had an old Dakota that had the resistor fail in it, and I swapped in a new one and it was good to go. Haven't had that issue with the Tacoma yet though.

Yes. The resistor itself doesn't actually fail. It's the connection between the resistor and the connector terminal that cooks.

Ah, I hadn't heard that before, so that's good info to share. I was confused when you just said "replace the connector too" because I haven't had to do that before. Thanks!

Yes but the reason the connection goes bad is typically because of the increase in resistance that happens as the resistor rusts.

    Resistors don't rust.
