So I put in my application for Border Patrol Agent. Picked Arizona as my first place...I have the test scheduled for Feb 15, 2011. Any thoughts from those who have taken the test or are currently serving as BP Agents?

I took the test out here in California, It wasn't too bad... I speak Spanish so I took the Spanish test instead of the learning a new language test. I gotta admit I should have brushed up on my Spanish. I recommend Studying the study guide they give you if you know Spanish take the Spanish portion if not take the Learning Test and you'll have no problems. I ended up passing and I am still waiting for a call back, I hear there is less competition for Border Patrol out in Arizona... In six months if I don't get a call back imma give it a try out there...

They gave me the option on the application to put down where I wanted to go...I had 4 choices:

    So-Cal
    South Texas
    West Texas/New Mexico
    Arizona

I figured the competition for So-Cal would be high so I chose Arizona..cuz if I get selected, I'm gonna wanna go some place warm after being in Alaska!!

Blaktak, when did you take the test? Just recently?

There's really no border problem here in Arizona... it's just political mumbo-jumbo

I took the test in Oct, and received my results in less than a week. Take a couple of days to study the guide they send you. It will be well worth it. I actually scored a 100 on the test, and I took the artificial language portion. It very possible to score high, focus on what the question asks you and thats it. On the artificial language part, I used the process of elimination technique, and it worked very well. Also, use all of your time. I was the last one finished on all portions of the test.

It tests your ability to learn an new language. They have a vocab list, and rules of grammar list and you have to figure out how to put it together...at least thats how it looks in the study guide!

Does time from the military transfer over as far as pension and pay purposes? CBP seems like a good gig, where did you get the study guide from?

I found the study guide information, but I didn't find anything about time transfering, I'm thinking it should since it's federal.
