I took it in for an alignment and they told me the right Toe End link is too short so I told them to center the steering wheel and adjust the left toe then to give more play for the right. They said they cannot do that and for me to pick up my truck and told me to replace the right toe end to a longer one. Is this normal for them to do this ? They said they won’t charge me for the work.

Just wanted to know other peoples experience

Sounds stupid to me, done plenty of alignments are only reason I haven't been able to get something right is cause a part is damaged/bent

They are a chain store and most likely don't have a tech that can do anything outside the guidelines the computer spits at them.
A lot of us have had issues with Firestone alignments.

So it is normal for people here to purchase and EXTENDED toe end link to have more adjustment ?

They told me their master alignment person is working on it

They left my upper control arms loose on my 06 silverado TWICE!

Keep it moving, find another shop.

No, we don't have to buy extended anything for stock configuration.
At 5k miles on my 17 they told me I needed new lower control arms and new cams cause mine were frozen.

Never heard of extended length tie rods, honestly I dont know everything and it could be a thing for drastically modified vehicles but not for stock vehicles.

They told me it’s a common part to buy online from a 4x4 shop... “tie rod end links” and then they’ll be able to complete the alignment.

thought it didn’t make sense either. Thanks !

Perhaps they meant there is too much play in the tie rod to do an alignment?
