I admit, I'm new to the "big mudders" and understand these things are heavy and may require a lot of weights to balance... and I chose a "value priced" tire. However, based on the other three wheels having only one or two weights on them. Does this fourth wheel seem overly weighted? Is this reasonable or should I take it back to the tire shop and ask them to rotate the tire and wheel and see if it balances better?

assuming the installer did everything correctly, no you have nothing to worry about here you are fine, that is well within the world of commercially acceptable

a rubber tire will not come out match perfect all day long off a production line so some will most certainly need more weight than others

a couple extra weights here or there is doing exactly what the weights are designed for

just my .02 though, you may notice they shake like a mother on the road (but i doubt it)

David should have had them road forced balanced, the machine would have indicated to the mechanic the tire might have had to be spun to a different position on the rim, ie.. less weights required. It does cost more for road force balance, try them out to see if there is a shake if so bring it back.

That is a cluster f of weights you got their OP. If you don't like the apperence of the outside then get it rebalanced or if you get the shake. When I had my shop we would never let that out the door. would have rotated the tire and tried again. The tire could also be defective from the manufacture, bent rim lot of variables for that many weights. Did you have them mounted and balanced by the shop you purchased the tires from? If you do get vibration/shake and you rotate your tires I would definitely go back and have them try again, that tire will end up in the front and you won't have a happy ride.

Well, thank you all. I’m sure I could just mount ‘em an go, but I think I’ll run by the national chain tire shop and ask them to try again.

    Hey there,

The work on the tire in the right photo is lazy. They added weight to two spots instead of just re-positioning the 3.75. Basically means when balancing they missed the exact center that 3.75 was supposed to be at, spun it again and added the .75 to counteract their poor initial placement. Should still be balanced though. I agree it's not a ton of weight but agree with another person's recommendation to ask for a road force balance. Not all tire shops have the capability but most modern ones should.

Probably not worth it but you can also pay extra to have tires matched to rims for balance and least amount of weight, but IMO it's not worth the cost. They find the heavy spot of the tires/heavy spots of the rims, mount/dismount and match those spots up too.

I didn't specify, that's the same wheel LEFT is front, RIGHT is back. Same wheel.

Still not balanced correctly. There should not be weights 180 degrees opposite of each other on the same side of the wheel.

Thanks for the reassurance. Felt like if you needed to put some opposite of each other, there’s an underlying issue. Like duct taping over duct tape, not fixing the hole in the first place.

Followup. Took the tire back, they agreed it was "a bit much" and re-mounted and re-balanced the tire. Still got a few weights on it, but there on the inside, so I'm happy. Tall-and-skinnies are really nicer than I thought. Thanks again everybody for the help!

That's nothing, my friends Wrangler has Dura Tracks with a 4x6 inch sheet of stick on weights on part of the wheel.
