Can you explain what made the cage bad? Other than the shops sick sense of humor with their artistry? I though the truck was at Dirt Designs and they have been well known to produce great products and quality work so I’m just curious why you had to scrap the whole cage out of the truck

Im sure its illegal, but a lot of people have vacation homes in arizona. You can easily say you split time between two places. I speak only from having an out of state license and getting pulled over with california plates, some people move around alot.

Im sure if you find the right cop who thinks its worth his time its wrong in some way, but I know a lot of people with houses at the river who register everything in arizona.

Ya there are definitely specific CHP whom target it, I'm guessing if you had CA plates they don't care because you are paying your CA dues specific to the car. I know CA has started ramping up focus on out of state reg in the last year or two. Like anything if you are driving a generic grocery getter they probably don't care, but if you are in a clearly modified car they can easily target you. Also a good excuse if you were driving like an a-hole and they can't get you on anything else (or they just don't like you). I know people whom have the property and register in AZ as well, this is why I was saying to make sure you get an AZ driver's license to quell any suspicion on the cops side, it just helps round out your story. Doesn't hurt that its all cheaper too

I almost forgot, park in the garage when you get home too if you have out of state plates. if you have an asshole neighbor CA encourages them to report you... i have asshole neighbors haha

    Please do, speedos preferred

But really, that's just a waste of everyones time -- if people are LITERALLY BUYING LAND out of state to avoid regulations...maybe the regulations should be evaluated. It's not like it's actually doing anything except making money for the state.

many of us love being buried in snow, nothing like a pow pow day in the greatest snow on earth. From SD and return to see family 5-6 times a year, wouldn't live there again. To each his own

There’s a good chance all the states in the generally vicinity of California will have the same smog laws we do eventually. Nevada just adopted adapted California smog standards. Nice thing with the post 2000 trucks is short of doing a motor swap it’s pretty easy to get them to pass everything but the visual inspection and that’s a non issue. I just passed smog and I didn’t even have to remove the ucon.

Another thing to mention is if you plan to sell the vehicle in California, out of state plates will hurt the sale as well if the buyer lives in California and knows what they are doing. You’d be better to pay to pass the test and keep your truck Cali legal.

Transfering the truck back to California may now require a trip to the chp for inspection (hopefully your lucky and the dmv does the inspection)

Yeah hopefully not. I just bought a new Harbor Freight Long Reach floor jack not too long ago. I'm hoping that one is still useable.

With enough wood blocks any jack is useable hahaha, definitely mounting a jack somewhere in or on the truck when my front end is done. Don't want to be stuck roadside because I have a flat/lt kit

if you lift off the LCA it doesn’t matter how much your suspension droops. When it comes to changing tires I go that route.

Yep I was gonna say the same thing. Factory little bottle jack works great under the lca or under the rear axle
