can't say i blame them, i've visited family in western MT a few times and it's beautiful. i'm moving for school (going to Montana State University in the fall) but i'm planning on sticking around after I graduate if i can, too damn crowded here in the seattle area IMO. it'll all depend on the job market. hoping to stay in the rocky mountain region though.

It will be almost impossible to avoid driving in some sort of snow storm at some point for something while out here. I've driven through some serious shit the last 4 years I've been here. Comes with the territory.

Bring some decent tires and don't be a dumbass and you'll be fine.

 

Or get some shitty tires and an even shittier beater and be like everyone on the road here in winter haha. I love blowing by people at 55 in a blizzard when they're only doing 25 on the highway cause their shitboxes aren't prepared. You throw a pretty good snow roost sideways off the tires on an unplowed highway

admittedly the cold was what initially attracted me about Bozeman. not only am I a skier, but i'm also a hockey player and the prospect of a real ODR (outdoor rink) was just too tempting. i'm not particularly worried, i made a point of asking on the MT thread about tire selection when i went up to 285s. as long as i don't do anything stupid i should be fine, then again... i'll have to remember not to do anything stupid.

 

Very true... My mother lived off the 93 in Arlee, MT and she would state that the snow drifts would be as tall as the house she was in.

frame and underside was always fluid filmed every fall but i guess it slowly rusted away from inside. that pic was taken after i cut out alot of it though. was like swiss cheese. stripping the frame down to bare metal now, then on to the bumpers

 

yup. cleaned it up some more up top and underneath to bare metal then 4 layers of fiberglass. seal it when cured and your golden.

 

well that's one way to prevent rust...

 

weve never had any further corrosion issues with this method. shaping a metal patch for that large area would have been very time consuming anyways.

 

no disrespect intended (just being clear). wouldn't have been the first method to come to my mind but it actually makes sense if you think about it.

 

yeah you'll be fine. The extreme climate changes make it worth it. Its about a 120 degree or more annual temperature swing haha
