Hoping someone could tell me if a 17x9 6x139.7 with 4.75" of BS and -6 offset would work with a 3" lift and 285/70's

    Thanks

    I think you need a 4.5 BS to run a 285 tire.

thanks for the reply, I was thinking that too but that was with 0 offset so I was wondering if the -6 offset would counter act the 4.75 back spacing...

You might be able to fit them but it's going to be close. are you getting them online or a tire shop?

9 millimeters = 0.354330709 inches so this is the conversion like I said it's going to be close.

i think if someone chimes in with a 4.50BS and a 0 offset with the distance to the UCAs we can figure this out.

I ordered then at discount tire and they were way off, they ordered a rim with 25mm offset never did know the back spacing, I really like the rim and don't want to give up on it, this is the only other configuration with the correct lug pattern

Its -6mm just bringing it up cause you mentioned 9 above

I'm running 17 x 8.5 with 4.75 backspace and 0 offset with 285/70/17. I have about an inch of clearance from tire to stock UCA.

Carp Typo here is the conversion 6 millimeters = 0.236220472 inches
So your looking at about 1/4 of an inch. But i think they measurer the back spacing from the mounting area of the rim so your tire is going to sit at the same place no matter what the offset is it will just stick out farther. But i could be wrong.

Well then CaptMorgan your golden you should have 1 1/4" of clearance with that size rim. But someone else chime in just in case I'm wrong.

^^This^^ Backspacing is backspacing regardless of what the offset is. A 4.5" BS with -12mm offset will be the same backspacing as a 4.5" backspace with +12mm offset. It just means the rim width is different.

You can see a good visual of this here

I would agree. I don't have a picture right now, but my tires don't stick out much at all. The tread is about flush with the fender flare.

I think a little protrusion looks good if you can't already tell by my wheels and tires.

ok, think I am getting it See if this is right, a 17x9 with 4.25 backspacing would have +6 offset?

wait, doesn't everyone run 17x8 with 4.5 back spacing and 0 offset? From what understand, on a 8 inch wheel you would have to have a 4 inch back spacing to get a 0 off set

Keep in mind that the rim width is the INSIDE on the rim surface (where the tire bead sits) and the center line is calculated from the OUTSIDE of the rim. An 8" wide rim might actually be 8.5" in TOTAL width because of this. So that would make the BS different.
