    Hi guys,

I’m trying to figure out if I want to lift my truck or not and wanted to get an idea of what 265/70r17 Goodyear Duratracs, Nitto Ridge Grapplers or BFG Ko2’s will look like on my truck without a lift.

I think I’d like a 3” lift with the bilstein 6112/5160 and HS 3 leafs but debating if I really want to spend $1500 and then possibly still have to get new UCA’s if there is an alignment issue.

Just being cheap as usual. Any pics appreciated to help my research. Dropped a pic with the stocks for attention

If you’re doing anything more than a fox 2.0 coil over in the front you will want to do UCA’s. Fox 2.5, Icon 2.5’s, Elkin, and most other high end brands make a mid travel set up that increases your travel about 1-1.5”. If you don’t upgrade the UCA’s then your completely negating the extra travel as the factory ones will not allow for it. If your being cheap but want decent suspension get fox 2.0’s they will level out the front about an inch and you will not need UCA’s. However if you’re going to do a 3” blistering makes a nice set up but it also isn’t a mid travel and will only have factory travel. Which seems like a lot of money just for factory specs IMO...

Oh also here’s my set up with ICON 2.5 in front, cam burg UCA’s, ICON 2.0 in rear(which eventually be upgraded). Tires are general grabber ATX 265/75/16. I feel like that size is the sweet spot for these trucks. For the way I like to drive i can’t go bigger till I re-gear.

Thanks for the help buddy! That looks good. I guess I can always go wheels and tires now and do the lift down the road (and the right way)

6112/5160 max out at 2 inches so if 3 is the goal you're going to need to pick something else.

    No lift with 265/70/17 tires.

Here's my truck with OME 887 coils with 5100 Bilsteins, 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers and the 4runner Pro wheels.

I'm very happy with the Nitto TG for a daily driver, not too heavy, moderately priced, decent wear and traction in the dirt, wet pavement and snow although not a good mud tire.

I stayed with the TGs when I went up to 285s, same lift.

How is the ride with the ICONs on the road? I have the fox 2.0 and was thinking of going with the ICON 2.5 to get more clearance for off road but still want a nice ride on the road since it is my daily driver. Thanks!

Stiff at first but does soften up after about 10k. My wife is used to her stock 4Runner OR suspension and says it’s too stiff but personally I like it because it handles way better on road and does really well off-road. So far I’m very pleased with it and haven’t had any issues. Probably going to add their lead pack in over the summer time as well.

Thank you! I might be sold on the ICONs. My buddies keep telling me to go with Kings but I can't justify that cost for the amount/type of off road I'll be doing.

    265/70-17 stock

265/70-17 lifted about 2" in front, more in rear. I'm on 2nd gen pro suspension which is non-adjustable 6112 and 5160's. No UCA's, no alignment issues.

You will want larger tires for more than a 2" lift for sure.

Lift and then buy tires 100%.

Stock sport suspension. 265/70/17 Duratracs on TRD 4Runner wheels. I put an OME lift with 285s on my 2012 but decided to keep this one on stock suspension and I’m pleased with the look. I get asked all the time what lift i put on it.

I’ve heard good and bad about ICON personally I’ve had no issues but also have not tried to utilize their customer service yet. Kings you’ll never hear anything bad about. Honestly though when I get a tundra in a few years that’s what I’ll put on it. I like my suspension though and I’m in the same boat with off-roading. I do it when camping and other man stuff that takes me off the beaten path but unfortunately most of my driving is on road and I wanted something that would be a little stiffer and handle well with less body roll.
