Spacers a good idea if I overland? No crawling or anything. I have a 2012 Tacoma that I drove stock until I sized my tires up to 265’s with steel wheels. I recently got new shocks & coilovers (so stupid!) without thinking I wanted a lift. Also thinking about an AAL on the rear...
If so - what brand does everyone suggest?

I've been running BORA spacers (3/4") for over 60k miles without any issues. Just my personal experience. Just get hub centric spacers if you do get them.

What does “hub centric” mean in simple man terms?

There are hub centric and lug centric spacers. You'll get better ride quality with hub centric as the hub itself pilots the spacer, not the lugs which allow for more error in being 'centered' correctly.

My truck has blocks and spacers everywhere. On the street it rides fantastic. Offroad it's absolutely miserable. Without changing spring rates, without changing dampening, and adding a 92 lb tire and wheel combo it's a miserable combination offroad. I'm fairly certain overlanding is offroad even if it's not rock crawling.

It would also depend on how big of a spacer you're planning on installing and if you're changing tire size/weight. Mine are 3" lift in the front. If you're just going up 1" it won't be a problem offroad.

The only other thing I can add is the lack of the upper control arm's ball joints down travel on any lift over around 2" will make the truck ride horrible on the street and offroad. So if you plan on going up to or over 2" you should plan on changing the UCA to an aftermarket UCA that will allow for more down travel.

A hub centric wheel relies on the hub to center the wheel and support the weight of the vehicle. Non- hub centric relies on the lugs/lug nuts to center the wheel and support the vehicle.

Ha ha ha, I think I totally missed the point of your thread. I read it and saw your pictures of the wheels so assumed you were meant wheel spacers.

Haven't had my morning coffee yet....

I have no idea about suspension spacers.

Bottom line, spacers are a bad idea.

If you're only going one inch up or less, spacers aren't usually a problem.
Any taller spacers and your suspension doesn't move like it's supposed to.

doesnt the stock suspension from '16- TRD provide some lift for her '12 ? Could be a less expensive way to get the lift desired

Toytec, revtek, roughcountry? Really doesn't matter a spacer is a spacer. only difference is some go between the top hat and the coil and others go on top of the top hat.

Are you saying my wheel & tire choice was incorrect?
