Putting it up there would only make work for the staff to answer the many questions of why, no.. not him.

Back to the topic at hand..............

Why does it appear as though there is a nasty oil like residue all over the plugs? Carbon deposits are to be expected, but not the sludge I think I'm seeing.

It's combustion byproducts sneaking past the threads and solidifying onto the plug. They're usually a vapor, just like in the PCV, but the plug is asking like a catch can here. It's giving them a place to cool but the water evaporates when the plug gets hot. This is of course just my opinion...

Similar but the body of the plug isn't in the PCV path. Unless you count what goes into the cylinder and slips by the loose plug threads.

Just did mine last week @ 103k miles. I had one that was slightly loose, but not near like this.

You must work A LOT faster than I did. I spent like 2 hours. Passenger side was quick. Driver side was a pain

It took me about an hour or so to check mine. Thankfully all were tight.

The biggest struggle for me was releasing the harness connector to the coil packs.

Jesus. Toyota QC sure is really dropping the ball here on their newer products.

Loose plugs is seriously one of the most unacceptable items to leave loose. Then again, so is an underfilled tranny, so I'm not sure which one is really worse here.

How long should plugs and coils last? Mine has a rough idle when warmed up. I have 87k on it.

Yup, a couple of my harness connectors were a bit of a pain. I was replacing mine anyway(100k) but they were all tight.
