14 Tacoma SuperWhite 040 Peeling

I have an 06 Tacoma, lots of paint problems, I will be making the call! thanks for the heads up.... I just thought I would have to repaint it myself.

14' super white mines holding up quite well, except for some the chipping from flying debris hitting and chipping a little behind the windows area

mines all pealed on the inner fender under the hood too, actually im pretty sure theres no paint at all on those spots haha

 

Wow that's bad with so many area's peeling off.

 

You should definitely call Toyota and open a case with them.

 

highly doubt they will give a darn its a 15 year old truck lol

 

out of curiosity, how long did it take for your vehicle to start peeling and flaking? And how long did it take once it started to get to the size it’s at now?

 

About 2 Years ago @ 60,000 miles started on the passenger rear door.

 

Quick update on my end, I went to 2 local dealerships today and they both recommended me to try another dealership that was 2 hours away from me. So I called this dealership and they said that they were servicing Tacoma's with my issue but said that they were flooded with vehicles needing paint repaired and that my local dealerships just didn't want to deal with it. I called another dealership 2 hours the other way and they said that the local dealerships "have" to help the people in their region, they aren't supposed to turn people away to other dealerships. The lady I spoke with said she would mention this to her board because they too were flooded with out of area vehicles that they were servicing. She said it would be about 3 weeks before they could see me. I hopped on google and found another dealership about an hour away and called them, they said that they dealt with alot of tacoma's with this issue, I scheduled an appointment for 8am tomorrow morning with a bodyshop they sub out work too. They are going to test the affected areas on my truck to see if it complies with the CSP and then, if it does, schedule an appointment to get my baby resprayed. This is the abbreviated version of today's events.

This is happening on the 3rd gens as well. I’ve only seen it on the white

edit: did a quick search and it looks like it’s not just white paint

 

@Kinney Thanks for the info. If I run into any trouble, I am going to give them a call. Hawaii is a little bit of a drive for me though haha

 

Yeah the dealerships I talked to said that the Super white and Blizzard pearl are peeling really bad on all models.

 

so you know Toyota is gonna tell you “it’s normal” because it happens on all years

Unfortunately it is normal for a white Toyota vehicle to begin peeling paint around the 40,000-60,000 mile mark from the research I have done. Something about the way they do the whiteish colored paint from what I can gather. Regardless, other model vehicle owners are being reimbursed for the paint work done to their vehicles so I just want to help the community and myself in this matter. As long as the problem gets fixed, I don't care what they tell me.

exactly (to your last sentence). Oddly enough, I already started saving for a repaint . I’ve seen how paint these days is aging and it’s not just Toyota with the problems.

I figure if I don’t need it, a supercharger may be in order

 

Now that sounds like a proper way to reallocate funding.
