To be fair, we do have the Triangle Offroad Cyclists (TORC) organization that actually does a pretty decent job with most of the public/legal trail systems in the area. Our issue is that we're quickly losing access to several of our bandit trail systems for various reasons -- to include rider stupidity, politics, new construction, and everything in between. TORC usually can't interfere with those access issues for legal reasons, so it's a lot more difficult to fight for them.

:rofl:Haha, I'm aware of TORC, I lived there basically my whole life up until 4 years ago. But they don't do the job like Tarheel Trailblazers does, they don't have the same level of organization and leadership. Many of the trails in the Charlotte area are former bandit trails that were legitimized after a lot of hard work and relationship building with local land owners and Counties.

Forgot Old Creedmore had +/-12 miles. Was some good trail, hate to lose that one.

Yeah, some think it may have been the mtb apps that ruined it for us. Many riders apparently didn't know (or simply ignored) the Sunday-only rule, so they showed up and rode it any time they felt like it. A lot of OC is on private property, so the owners finally said fuck off after it happened too many times during the last hunting season. Definitely a huge loss for Wake Forest riding, no doubt.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the only legal way to access it was down a little strip of game land? And I know at least part of the trail was on private property too.

Like maybe the Yellow highlighted part was private?

Yeah, I'm personally not sure which parts are private versus public. Something about part of it next to a mansion? I never noticed a mansion whenever I rode those same three loops, so I honestly have no idea where the lines are drawn. What little I do know about the situation is from one of the guys living next to it who is still fighting to get our access back. I'm kinda just waiting on word from him directly if it's safe to go back.

I’m about 5’8”. 27.5” feels great to me. I just don’t know how much of a difference 29ers would feel or be hitting jumps since I never really got a demo out on trails. More weight possibly too with the extra inch and a half (I know it’s not much haha).

But I guess maybe I should pay and rent/demo a 29er from a LBS for the day and see what it’s like. That new Scout is beautiful.

This is me. I went from 26 to 29 and have never ridden a 27.5
The new 29s are very nimble and I feel very comfortable on them, but at only 5'7" I always wonder if the smaller wheel would still be better for me.

I don't know, she works out every day from what I hear. I bet if she popped those dentures out she could do some damage......

How do you guys lock your bikes to your truck when staying overnight at a hotel, and you can't bring them inside?

One bike might barely fit under a tonneau with the front wheel off, but the only way I can think to secure two bikes would be with a camper shell, which I don't otherwise want.

Have a short bed so kind of a pain.

Locks keep honest people honest, will not stop a thief. No way I'm leaving my bike unattended in a parking lot overnight. Before I was full time WFH, I used to bring my bike up the elevator and into my office during the day.

Not happenin. Only place I dont lock them up is out camping far away from others.

If you need to sneak through a side door with them, thats been done many a time.

Finally got out for a decent ride today. Been over a month since I broke my hand and elbow. So stoked to get out, even if I’m riding super reserved.

**Im kicking myself for waiting so damn long to throw a coil in. Magic ride.

Totally agree here. Just get stronger for the uphills, and have a blast on the downhills. More travel doesn’t just mean more margin for error, it means a bigger sweet spot for pumping burly terrain.
