Any cons of just doing Bilstein 5100s for <$400?

I initially was planning on a Bilstein 6112/5160 with AAL and Total Chaos UCA’s. Then I crunched the numbers for new wheels and tires and realized I’d be saving up for a little while longer to get there.

Rather than going with a 2/1 level kit I am thinking I’m going to rock and roll with this kit to get a 2/1 lift with the eibach coils and 1.5” add a leaf
    https://offroadalliance.com/product...oraXXB4p_J_tDsQLFWxaXxbGRgzetIkxoC9RwQAvD_BwE

    https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/...0-1-lift-rear-shocks-2016-2017-toyota-tacoma/

Im really only looking to level it out for looks and to possibly run a 285, but will probably stick with 265 70 17 Goodyear wrangler Duratracs to achieve a good look without any chopping.

Am I cheaping out by running the Bilstein 5100s?

    Should I upgrade the springs?

Should I still get UCA’s and an add a leaf?

I figured for the low cost of the Bilsteins I could still achieve the look I want while saving up for the 6112s and doing it all in the next year or so...

Definitely not cheaping out. 5100’s 1.5” front lift oem coils rear 1.5” aal. Factory rake or close. Ride is stiffer but fine with me. Subtle lift still looks good with 265/75/16.IMO. Stock control arms , cv’s are good no vibes. Those kits you mentioned are sick as well.
    Good Luck

Cool thanks dude, definitely like how yours sits too. I think that’s a pretty budget friendly option without sacrificing too much reliability. Glad to hear the 265s worked too!

    The 5100's will be fine.
I ran them and enjoyed them.
You don't need uca's seeing your not trying to go over 3 inches in the front. You could save that add a little and get your 6112's.

I was going to run 6112's and 5160's but I got a killer deal!

I am running icon 2.0 In the rear and fox 2.5 in the front.
I picked them up used. Rebuilt the rears and my total cost was $1000 for the set up. Couldn't be happier with the deal and the set up

5100's are a bit stiff (not good or bad, subjective) and aren't great on washboard roads but they certainly aren't bad quality shocks. I don't view it as cheaping out, they are about the best quality budget shock available.

I would get UCAs. I didn't with my 6112s and now my alignment blows. I will be adding them in the near future and have to re-align.

PS I bought mine on Amazon for about $360 shipped. The rear AAL was $85. Best $450 I’ve ever spent on a vehicle upgrade.

How does the ride compare to the stock sport shocks?
I’m personally not looking to upgrade but wondering what my options are once the stockers wear out.
