Valvoline Instant Oil Change told me my cheapest option was $68.99. Were they trying to rip me off?

only problem these days is finding a place to DIY the OCI, most renters cannot do auto maintainence where they live. im thinking about becoming a YOUTUBE star producing Stealth auto repair/maintainence Vids for a profit.

There are lots of reasons people can't or won't change their own oil. Some just don't know how (and that's ok). Some can't physically do it (do to age, disability, etc). Some may not have the tools to do so. Some may not have the space. And yes, some are just lazy. The list goes on.

    No hatin' from me.

Just use the Autozone side parking lot,I have seen many guys do that and Autozone seems too have no problem with it,then you can turn in the used oil when you are done!

It's the best kept secret in the oil industry....including it's twins, Kirkland (Costo) and Amazon Basics.

If you like Valvoline synthetic...check out NAPA brand full syn. It's rebaged Valvoline and can often be found pretty cheap

Autozone and Advanced are pretty good about that. Just clean up when you are done and you'll rarely get any stink from them

when I rented I used to go all kinds of crazy places to OCI, I just couldn't fork over $100 for a OCI when I could do it better for probably less than $25

I think the DEXOS only pertains to GM vehicles requirement

I dumped some used oil at Advanced the other day and passed a fella in the parking lot doing an oil change and using their tool cart. He didn't even have is own tools

It does. But it must pass some very rigid testing to meet that approval. So it's more than fine in our non-picky engines

ive never seen this done before at those places where I live, but im so good and quick at doing the OCI they probably wouldn't even notice what I was doing, back in the day I would going on an offroad excursion find a fire break or remote local, but it was very risky with the Rangers patrolling around.

I only use Valvoline VR1 racing oil in the Camaro as it has high zinc and phosphorous (ZDDP) . Help protect my $$$$$$ race engine

The Tacoma I like how clean the oil stays with the Kendall synthetic

Everyone has friends, many friends live in single-family homes where light maintenance in the driveway is acceptable. Bring beer.
