    Are there any entomologists here on TW? I get these "creatures" around the house every year, not sure what they are. They are slow movers and don't seem to be "hostile". Pics below(large, but they are awesome:)):

    I found one on the fence this past summer that was about 3" long. I didn't really want to pick it up without gloves on, that "stinger" on the front might not feel too good sticking in your skin.

    I thought it was some type of spider at first, but I can't find any information or pictures of spiders that look like it.

    im pretty sure its a type of ant, but what exactly...i have no clue. either way.......if they come around here...they meet an untimely demise of brake cleaner.

    anyone ever seen a "velvet ant" or cow killer as they are also sometimes called?? they are friggin wicked.
