I'm a bit late to this party (so to speak), but recently ordered a kit (hope it arrives by Thursday of this week) for my 16 Sport DCSB. I read through most of the post on here, and it seems like it should work (even on my earlier year model).

Having said that, I'm have a few questions if others can possibly answer:

    1. Is the actuator installation difficult? I've seen some Pop n' Lock installation videos, so is it similar to this?
    2. It was mentioned in several other posts about the grommet being "replaced," and that new one was in the wire spool?
    3. Anyone who has had the item installed for some time, has there been any electrical issues later on after installation (i.e. power locks not working, windows, etc.)?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Installation is pretty straight forward. Most difficult part is running the wire down the frame and cutting the metal ties behind the muffler. The actuator install in the gate is probably the easiest part. Use a socket to push down the "push nut".
    2. Yes, the grommet comes on the new wire which is nice.
    3. Haven't had mine on for very long, but I can't imagine any future electrical issues. It is fused right after the T-harness, so if anything, I would expect a blown fuse.

    Good luck.

Be sure to begin the installation inside the cab as the instructions state. I recall that someone decided to start at the tailgate end, only to find out later that the connectors on the cab end of the cable would not fit through the hole in the floorpan. :annoyed:

Ah. Thanks for the tidbit. I was thinking starting from the back and working forward whenit gets here. But guess change of plans.

Someone did actually start at the tailgate and worked forward to the cab, before realizing the connectors wouldn't fit through the hole in the floor. It was mentioned here.

No issues so far. I followed the instructions posted here and had no problems. I may redo the wiring down the frame rail as it on top and relocate it inside the frame. I ordered the double cab long bed kit and it fit pretty much perfectly.

IMG_20200624_181124.jpg Just installed in a 2017 SR5 DCSB, no issues. Simple Plug and play installation. As everyone previously states, feed harness from cab back and secure to frame. Works perfectly w key and fob, auto lock and unlock.

Not for a 2020+. For 2016-2019 they aren't pre-wired and pre-cut so you'd need more parts for the wiring from the cab switch back to the lights. @mattgecko makes some great bed light kits (that's what I have).

    Thanks

I used my db meter (on phone) to measure the noise. Doors are 60db, gate is 70db. 70 is twice as loud as 60...
I would say that seems accurate, same sound but twice as loud...

Hey that’s a smart idea to use the phone app. Will measure my tailgate lock that I received from ktjo4x4 as I notice it’s quite loud. Maybe that’s just the way it’s suppose to sound.
    Thanks

just looked on a discount Toyota oem parts website. They’re pricey!

Would you say your tailgate lock from ktjo is pretty loud or is that how it’s suppose to sound?

Installed mine yesterday! (PK3B6-35JLO for DC LB) The grommet hole under passenger seat already had a wire running through it! The grommet on the new power cable looked smaller than the hole in the cab of truck, so I cut a slit in the existing grommet just big enough to feed the new cable thru it and sealed it with silicone! Anyone else run into this situation?

I haven't seen anyone mention anything like that. Did you buy your truck new?
Are you sure you went through the proper grommet? The one that you can just barely see part of in this post?

    For the noise enthusiast:
Keep in mind this is not an aftermarket clunking solenoid actuator, but a DC motor/lead screw with a brief whirring sound.
photo is not the exact unit but the internals are basically the same.
