I used the vagabond provided Ltrack and the prinsu mounting feet w/extrusion. I had to buy longer cross bars tho because the prinsu ones aren't long enough. Only sits about 3 1/4" above the roof.

A benefit with the Ltrack is with the right mounting pieces you can enter the track at any point because of the circular openings whereas the yakima or thule rails you can only enter at each end.

Has anyone mounted a table under the overhang like on the AluCab models? If so do you have any details and photos?

Not enough room on a 1st gen. Check back with me in several months when I move the Drifter to a 2.5 gen.

FYI - the Exped MegaMat Duo 10 LW+ fits well in the Drifter. You just lose the ability to fold the mattress forward and push the panel out of the way for full truck bed standing ability...

Longer term, if I kept this mattress, I would do something like the AluCab where the mattress lifts up against the ceiling out of the way.

That's great to hear your quick fist holds it. This was what I was hoping to do and was trying to figure out how to mount to the bed rail. I have a Decked system so it's already raised up close to the rail, that should make this very easy. Thanks!

The lift up bed would be way more convient for me as well.

VO will do this for you during install and they also have a FR table option. There's photos in the Drifter FAQs and Specs thread somewhere, I would guess around 1/2 of the way through the thread but unsure

Here are relevant posts about the table. Notable: Fits 3rd gen. First 2nd gen ONLY IF using factory bed caps. Must modify/remove shark fin.

Thanks for the table info! Now, has anyone relocated the shark fin antenna to the top of the drifter. Do you even need to? Thought I read that reception was greatly hindered due to the camper.

I relocated my sharkfin... well, the top of it anyway... to the garbage can at the VO shop, using their fine hacksaw.

Everything still seems to work the same. Then again, I don't use the maps and such, so maybe I wouldn't know?

I’m going to schlepp my little project that may help you out with the aesthetics of that hacked up antenna:

It is rather simple of an install if you do it from the rear window.

I could be remembering incorrectly and I guess I could just walk out back and check, but I don't think the bed platform will clear the sides (ie, its wider than the opening above). It's not the end of the world and you would probably want it to pivot from the front of the overhang anyway, which would require a new platform.

I was trying to say that I’ll drag out my little product and put it on display. From an East Coast Jewish perspective, I was spot on. But hey, everyone love a little Mandy Patinkin.

I think you're correct. Then my idea would be one of those cargo nets under the Exped mattress and some minimal hooks/loops on the ceiling with some paracord running through it to use as a pseudo-pulley to lift and hold the mattress up against the ceiling.

    Just the basics
That's' pretty cool. Since I don't have a drifter I really don't know how they work other than I assume it is similar to a FWC how the bed tray slides forward. Could you fold the Exped in half when closing the camper? Open the valve and let the air release normally?

Is trash still an issue out in BLM country surrounding Bend?

The BLM areas close to town have a homeless issue and lots of litter. Just gotta drive 5min in or so and it most all disappears thankfully!

I am in Bend, OR and will be heading south into CA if anyone wants to see the camper, camp, meetup, etc. Or if I could get a fan installed @ Vagabond

@mhshark Good meeting you dude, we’ll link up again when you come south
