It's less Tacoma and more mod
They have variable valve lift and timing, so it can more just vary the power on demand, still requires the throttle plate because there isnt any fine control. Vanoss can't attenuate the throttle value, just the length of the path

Yeah the article said Nissan and BMW have been using a form of valve control for acceleration not a throttle valve

That’s not the advantage freevake cares about. Emissions are the massive advantage. And being able to run the engine cylinder by cylinder to optimize power and fuel efficiency.

A Saab they retrofitted with the system saw a 30% increase in power and economy in the infancy of free valve.

    Nissan developed variable compression

    Kia developed variable cam lift

What if all the manufacturers make an engine with all the tech and developments for the lols

They are still holding tight to their Hydrogen flop.

The way i understand it is the throttle valve is open 100% all the time only closes when the system malfunctions

they work well... but uh. infrastructure isnt there... at all. Hybrids are their game plan for YEARS to come.. and honestly thats fine... working on them for 6 years now, i can say theres a TON of hybrids with over 300k and only minor issues.

personally i hope a hybrid tundra actually happens and proves to be a nice mix between diesel torque and gasser maintenance. instant torque from a electric motor combine with the gas motor to generate power and keep the thing moving on the road...
