Okay... I'm going to try to explain a new glitch that you can do to make your character higher in level with absolutely no effort on your part.

The first part has to do with the Prismatic Recaster and how it functions. Anytime you pick up a new Umbral Engram, you want to first "focus" that engram in the Recaster. When you focus that engram you want to pick the "Armor-Focused Umbral Engram" (second from the left). The reason you want to do this is because it has about a 70% chance of decrypting into an armor piece that is anywhere from 3-5 levels higher than your current level. Once you decrypt the engram and it is higher level, equip that piece of armor and then decrypt another engram. Do not decrypt them all at once. I don't know if this is a bug or if it is intentional? But no matter. I would jump on this as soon a possible. It only works with the "Armor-Focused Umbral Engram". DO NOT pick another engram as it will not decrypt into anything higher.

The second part of this is where no effort is needed on your part. Reclaim the lowest level armor out of your collections and equip it. You want to be around 650 power level or lower. Put on your lowest level weapons that you have. It doesn't matter because you won't be using them. Load into one of the Forges and just stand there and die. Trust me... no one is trying to complete the Forges right now because of this method so good luck if you need to do an actual Forge run. You won't have any help unless you go in as a fireteam. Once you die in the Forge it completes. Upon completing you have a chance at an Umbral Engram dropping. It will send you back to orbit and then right back down into the Forge again. Rinse and repeat. I just left the PS4 on for about 5 hrs while I had to go down and help my father. When I came back I had 21 Umbral Engrams waiting for me and I did nothing to earn them. So if you want to leave your PS4 on all night and just collect free Umbral Engrams, then you will level your character up without even trying. A side benefit of this is since your Armor will far out level your Weapons, you will start to get weapon drops that are much higher so you will level up your character even more.
You have to make sure that your controller is plugged into the PS4 because if it loses connection you will be booted back to orbit.

Below you will see just how much I was able to level my Hunter by not doing any work at all. I could do the Raid 2-3 times before I would be able to get all of the drops to level the Hunter this much.

Oh... and I forgot to mention that I had enough engrams to level up my second set of armor for my Hunter.

 

Sorry if this has been brought up before but is anyone having problems with staying connected? There are times where I get booted at the character select screen. Other times I'm playing for maybe 10 minutes and then booted. This is the only game this happens to when I play online. All other games I have no problem. I play on PS4. I've cleared the cache, deleted the game and reinstalled it. Reset my modem and router multiple times. I was having this problem even when my modem was hard wired to the console. I like the game but this has been a constant battle lately. A buddy of mine in another state kept getting a random blue screen and then it would crash.

 

No. Can't say that I have. It's been running smoothly and I also play on PS4. I clear my cache out once a month and have it directly wired to my modem. No lag and no strange things happening in the game (other than not being able to access the Lighthouse after going Flawless this weekend). But everything is running as it should be here.

 

No problems here either -- not sure what you guys mean about clearing cache, but I haven't done that. Wondering if there's some setting that the Bungie netcode doesn't like, or maybe your ISP is doing something weird.

 

If you hold down the front power button on your PS4 for about 7-8 secs. it will boot up into safe mode. You can then select the option of clearing out the system cache. The PS4 HD is just like a regular computer HD so it needs to be cleared out every so often. I do mine about once a month or so. You will generally see a little bit of a boost in the menu selection screen and the speed at which "some" games boot up.

 

Oh... and in case anyone tries to do the method of leveling that I described above? It doesn't work anymore. They fixed both the afk farming and the bug where armor was able to decrypt at a higher level than intended. It was fun while it lasted. Saved me a week or two of leveling though so it was worth it.

 

Something that I thought about. Make sure when you run a network test on your PS4 it is set to run on NAT 2. Anything else and you will not be able to communicate with anyone in the game. I also think this affects whether the game stays online or not. You will have to go into Network settings and run the test and make sure that it is set up to run on NAT 2. There are also multiple options for running closed or open settings for your IP. I wouldn't recommend running open but you might try it and see if it keeps you in the game without issue. If it does, then you can start to trace backwards where the problem with your IP might be and why it is having trouble communicating with the Bungie system.

The thing is, you are running on Bungie's system when logging in to access the client that is installed on your system. But everyone that you see in the game is running on a peer to peer system whether that be in the tower, in the open world, during a raid or strike, or during PvP. The host migrates every 60 secs or so to a new host that happens to be in your area or activity. This is why when transferring between zones you get a loading screen. The game is looking for a new host in that area. All of this could be solved by Bungie running dedicated servers but that has yet to happen and I doubt it ever will.

 

That's what I've been saying ever since Destiny 1. Have dedicated servers and a lot of issues could be resolved. Also, I am running on NAT 2 closed. I tried running it open about a year ago and nothing changed so I went back to closed. I mean, I live in a pretty rural area so it could be my IP. Just weird that it's for this game only.

Okay... One more thing it could be. Do you use Grenade Launchers often? There is a bug that will crash the game on some systems if you use Grenade Launchers. I use them all the time (especially Mountaintop) and I've not had a crash. But it is a "known" bug that I just found out about this morning. It's a long shot but Grenade Launchers have been causing some games to crash. It's really a problem in Crucible since it matters if your game crashes in there. If you leave a match in progress (either by manually leaving or getting booted) you run the risk of a "suspension of play". Since people are going after the Catalyst for the Witherhoard, Grenade Launcher usage has gone up dramatically. Then you factor in that Witherhoard is bugged anyway with the damage it's outputting on bosses... It's a long shot but it might be something to look at?

We can forget Bungie ever going to Dedicated servers. If they haven't done it by now they never will for Destiny in this life cycle. Since it seems that D2 will be around for another 2 years minimum, they will not change the architecture of the game that they have had for 6 years. It works good enough for "them" so we are stuck with peer to peer. Then you add in the cost of dedicated servers and it won't happen. I agree with you... I wish they would. But it won't

 

If they did go to dedicated servers, they'd likely have to charge a monthly fee -- that would greatly increase the number of servers they have to maintain and pay for. I kind of like the distributed architecture in a geeky way, and dedicated servers would come with their own problems.

Weird on the grenade launcher bug.

 

All throughout D1 I was begging for dedicated servers. PvP and Trials more specifically was a nightmare due to lag and DDoSing. I don't give a shit about dedicated servers in PvE content. But in PvP I damn sure give a shit about it. But, whatever they have done on the console side of things has made it relatively stable on console. The same can't be said for PC because of the sheer number of cheat codes and hacks that are available on PC. As soon as they announced that D2 was coming to PC the very first thing I remember thinking is "let the cheating begin". There is no way you could get me to play PvP on PC. They are slowly starting to put in place anti cheat systems but with the return of Trials last season you would have thought that would have been the top priority on PC. Nope... Anyone that wanted to play could play for free. Talk about stupid.

 

Hear anything on them going back to the way PvP was as far as separating the player levels? Putting it back to the way it was last season?

 

Nope. They will most likely leave it this way. I doubt Quickplay will ever go back to SBMM because so many people hated it. I don't care either way as it doesn't effect me one way or another. Makes the games a little more interesting IMO.

Just have to get used to it and change with the times. Last season I was expecting Hand Cannons but Auto Rifles took over so I just adjusted. Now SBMM is gone for good in Quickplay so you'll just have to get used to it. Part of the game.

I kind of like the new system. I've got the highest K/D in the clan and I'm sitting 3rd in most kills and slowly working my way up to Grasty. I'll catch him even though he has a year head start on me since I took off a year. I'm within 5000 kills and I play everyday. I'm sitting at 6,352 more kills than deaths and he is sitting at 6056.



Top 0.9% in Survival #5528 in the world and Top 0.9% in Trials and #1215 in the world. I can live with that.

 

Spent almost all week in Comp and made it to 5500 solo. Finally got the "Unbroken" title after 8 months. I'm honestly not sure which title is harder to get. "Flawless" or "Unbroken". "Flawless" requires a lot out of you and a lot of steps you have to take to get the title. "Unbroken" requires quite a lot out of you also along with hitting 5500 in Comp in 3 consecutive seasons. I've got them both now and they are by far the hardest titles to get in the game. But I'm finally done with the "Unbroken" title which was more of a waiting game then anything.

The update on Tues. is awesome. I did not expect the amount of content they released. There is so much to do in the game now that I'm actually playing some PvE content.

This is the newest exotic to come out and it is a lot of fun to play with. You have to do a lot of things to get it and I stayed up all night finishing all the content to get it. Now I'm working on the Masterwork which requires you shooting the eyes scattered all over the planets.



Then you add in all the drops that are continually dropping and there are a shit ton of God rolls to go after. The Recaster is a very good addition to allow you to chase what weapon / armor you might want. This season is so much better than last season.

 

Oh... and this is how I get recoveries each week. Almost every time I drop into the tower someone asks for help with Trials. I'll end up telling them that I'll run a recovery and most decline but then others don't.
