hey guys I need your help, planning on upgrading my suspension soon and I'm stuck between the elka 2.5 and kings non adjustable resi, I would have to pay around 4-500$ more for the kings. Do you think its worth the extra money for the kings non adjustable or should I save that money and go with the elka 2.5....

After having adjusters I cannot ever recommended skipping out on adjusters. They are worth every penny. If you’re gonna be spending that much money get what you really want even if it means saving up some more and waiting. I have 2.5 ext kings w adjusters and they ride nothing short of amazing. Beyond happy with them. I can’t speak to Elka but ADS also makes amazing coilovers. Maybe @ChadsPride can chime in, I know he loves his ADS coilovers.

I looked at all the suspensions out there, and the only drawbacks I saw to kings/icon/fox, and elka was that they are only adjustable compression, not rebound or high/low speed settings. I started looking and best i found for the money was the Dobinson MRR/MRA 3 way adjustable with remote reservoir they are slightly smaller diameter at about a 2.25" housing, but have a larger diameter shaft, and go from stock heaight setups up to 3" height in many configurations (for balancing your bumpers/skids, and whatnot. they are fully rebuildable, full threaded for height/spring preloading, and for about $2800 (depending on your options) you get a full leafpack (gets better reviews than OME, and ICON) front and rear shocks with adjusters for both compression (high and low speed, rebound, spring preload) I plan to run these in my DD.. they also come with all the tools (preload wrench, and a tool to turn the adjusters as well, other manufacturers charge extra for these)... dunno worth a look, I'm saving my pennies for a set now. hopefully by end of summer....

I wouldn't mind fox either ive heard and seen good things from them but elka and king just seem to catch my attention. I also live in bc so the elka aluminum body is definitely a huge plus but the reputation that kings seems second to none.if anyone's running the OME bp51 i would love to hear your thoughts as well, im open to most brands but I just want to make sure if I'm spending the big bucks its on something thats actually worth the price I pay. I really appreciate all the feedback from everyone!

just remember aluminum body is more complicated to adjust preload. You have to compress the springs so you don’t trash the threads

depends on what you are doing with the truck and WHY do you NEED high end race shocks?? if it is just a daily driver, then you don't need high end race shocks that need rebuilt every 20-30k miles...

if you have cash to blow, my vote is for ADS. They seem to be the best valved shocks off the shelf. If you want shocks valved specifically for your truck, head over to Accutune and select from King or Fox.

it can vary depending how you drive the truck, but that's a recommend interval from my research.

I have Fox and I have been hearing actual interval is more like 50k (from a Fox Rep), but can go up to 100k if not abused too hard. I’ll probably be more like 50k

with that info, I think it’s like OEM life expectancy but a huge upgrade and rebuild able when the time comes.

I definitely don't need high end race shocks but I want to hit some more difficult trails and want a susension that I can trust and rely on. Something with good durability and capabilities, like the saying buy once cry once so im willing to spend a little more if its actually worth it.

    Get Elka or ADS.

Then slap this sticker on the back of your truck
