    CRCs Reality,

I am looking for it myself, I was told that there is a 13TDANNA-DA11_0161.kwi now

If you find it please let me know, I'll post it here if I find it too.

Just set up Alexa today. 2016 Tacoma.

Garbage. The voice recognition is worse than my Amazon Echo's at home. Can't play Spofity. Can't use the arrow buttons on the steering wheel to change songs. Directions do not work at all. Tried navigating to a couple of places, Alexa confirms the location I want to go to, tells me that she is getting directions to that location, and then.....nothing. Volume is really low compared to the music volume, had to turn down the volume on my phone and turn up the volume on the truck to be able to hear her. As someone who works in software I can't believe this was allowed to hit the market. I literally only want it for listening to music and navigation and it only does one of those things and doesn't do it very well.

I agree no Spotify is terrible. But my steering controls change the track (at least on Pandora) and when I asked for directions it added them to my GPS. I do get the low volume sometimes and others its normal. I think it get stuck in the "listen" mode where it lowers the volume and never puts it back up. You may need to update the headunit software not the just entune app suite.

My head unit did update, that's how I knew I had Alexa compatibility. I was listening to music with Amazon music and the steering buttons didn't change. What year model do you have?

Make sure you get the correct file for the head unit you have. 0161 is not just a new version of 0160, they are for different head units.

Per T-SB-0003-20: The .kwi file that ends in 0161 is for the 2019 Entune Premium head unit. The file that ends in 0160 is for 2016-2018 Entune Premium head unit.

Updating the head unit and the entune apps you see are two different things. Adding Alexa was just updating the apps. To update the unit you need to download the appropriate file to a thumb drive and update the head unit. This thread has more details. But mines a 19.

My steering wheel buttons also don’t work to change Bluetooth songs. Volume works fine. Kinda annoyed about this update

the same thing happened to me and i wound up just disabling alexa since it didn't work for spotify anyway. i can already get similar results by just saying "ok google, do a thing". What would be nice is if we could switch the "siri eyes free" button around to trigger "ok google".

First thing I did was turn that creepy shit off. Not that hard to hit the steering wheel button when I want to use it.

For me the ability to set a destination verbally that goes to the head unit is huge. That's the biggest reason I'm happy with this update. I've had very good luck easily finding my destination using Alexa. The factory voice command feature was utterly useless for me.

Just called toyota to let them know how awesome this update is and thank them for continued support, especially after losing the pandora app a few months ago.

Toyota rep said she was happy to hear the positive feedback and said that they would file the case # with toyota. I figure if more of us call in and say thanks, maybe we might get some more updates in the future. Just thinking out loud, but toyota really didnt owe us anything and this seems like a pretty big update for a 1 to 4 year old truck, depending on your model year.

If you need the number 800-331-4331. (I am not affiliated at all with Toyota) just figured it was a good thing to do. Took 5 minutes.

So far, so good. It'll get better with updates. The notion that toyota doesn't owe us updates is totally false. If they want to compete in the market, they'll need to keep a 2019 vehicle current with technology. This is a great sign of more to come.

@pissed off guy - it will plot your destination, you just have to tap go

They'll add spotify soon I'm sure

My thinking is that we already bought our trucks. I am on the hook for the payments regardless. The additional features they add to new model year releases is to be competitive selling new trucks, and could be an incentive to get people to trade up to a new year truck. After all I would bet that a lot of people did trade in just to get android auto and apple car play, it's a vehicle seller.

Why would toyota want to invest resources to upgrade cars they've already sold? There really isn't much incentive to do so from their end. I really doubt other auto makers are doing similar things to their old vehicles (I could be wrong), but to me this is worth encouraging. Anyway just my $0.02.

The volume is so much lower with the app enabled. How the heck do you mess that up?

I thought I was crazy when I had to max the volume out on both my phone and head unit after the update.

I noticed that after the update when the Alexa app is active on the screen "OK, Google" is also working and I hear it through the speakers. I asked it to play music and it does, but then no controls for the music. You also need to allow the Entune access all of the time. If you have it blocked to only allow access when accessing the app, it won't work properly unless you've opened the Entune app first.

I also didn't see the ability to replace the steering wheel voice button with Alexa. Mine still uses that crappy built-in one that recognizes nothing I say. I've always hated the built-in one.

Now if I only had Google maps or Waze instead of the stock one...

Was that an option that was supposed to work? Or are you just saying you wish it would work? From what I can see on my iphone the Entune app is always listening because there is a red icon in the top left when you swap screens. I think it is using the phone mic and not the car mic
