Well 4th gear at 70 MPH is 3100 RPM or so, so 4000 RPM would be 3rd gear? Dunno.

For hills, S mode 3 or 4. 3 is best bet most of the time. The power is higher in the rev band
Yes. The transmission learns. Mine was jumpy when I first got it, but a few trips, and constant driving helped it out tremendously. The transmission is a beast, it's the tune that's frustrating. Give it time and it'll get better. As far as confidence, i've never been worried. This truck has never let me down.

I really never look at my Tachometer. Reading the past few pages, I guess I am in the minority and am starting to get paranoid (the last part is sarcasm).

When I need to go, I give it some pedal and she skoots real good.

I drive the little hills in western NJ and PA, and never had an issue.

I have also never used cruise control, only used the shift limited a few times, and rarely use ect.

You are like my buddy, he says ECT is useless for him and never uses the CC. Not because its no good, because he never did in any of his vehicles.

He loves how it drives overall. Says its got too much power sometimes, when trying to accelerate smoothly, his only minor complain.

You can laugh all you want. But.....as I have CLEARLY stated already, I test drive one several times in a totally different terrain in WI where I bought the truck as opposed to the terrain at my other home in PA where I am finally taking it after 3 months of ownership. Terrain is like that. And the dealership wouldn't like me taking a 900 mile test drive. So the 4 I did had to suffice.
I find reading comprehension, or lack of, something to LOL at too.
Vehicles that don't break a sweat:
    2 F150's with the 3.5 (no ecoboost)
    Dodge Ram....pulling a trailer

    Hyundai Tuscon.

Trucks that felt like they were going to blow up doing what should be and is a routine 900 mile trip:

    True.

This truck is the first AT I have owned.

I have driven plenty through the years, but all my vehicles were MT.

I get the part about the quick acceleration. When I give it pedal, I feel it going, and then boom, it shoots off like a rocket.

I don’t mind it at all, especially since my knees are breaking down pretty rapidly and I refuse having it fixed medically- AT is great for my stage of life...lol

Is what it is. I sleep soundly every night knowing my truck is awesome. It'll never be sold.
Agreed. If you reaaalllly want it to go off the line, it will. Kinda fun too
Is this a shifting issue or is there actually an engine issue? Now I'm curious

Both the 2nd and 3rd gen turned the knob clockwise to go from 2Hi to 4Hi, as did the Ranger. Might be the way the knob is marked on the 3rd gen, where you're turning the collar while the tickmark in the middle remains stationary.

I own two as work trucks.
Not very fast or strong, but great gas sippers. Just time pulling out in traffic and it's good to go.
Impressive in a full size truck.

I just retired from the automotive/light truck service, repair and parts business. This community, for the most part is more concerned with aftermarket parts/pieces and modification of the base truck. You don't see this too much with the half ton market. I don't think these folks buy the truck for the performance or capabilities. They are buying it for the looks. And that's why I bought mine. It's got a unique front end that looks like it's ready for the trail. I liken it to my avatar pic of the dodge power wagon. Big nose, sits high, lots of take off clearance, and if you add a ARB bumper, your very AUSSIE...lol. I love the truck. There are better trucks, if you want a "truck", but none as unique as this one. And that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Cool sheetgood platform! I might borrow that idea for a different application. I just let my 4x8’ ply droop a little or rest on a duffle bag full of stuff when I haul it. Jealous of your wood shop.

OP, get the truck! You’ll like it! You can blame me if I’m wrong.

This has turned into a legendary Friday thread. Guy mentions wanting a Ridgeline, states the pilot is a superior vehicle, AND states anything made by FCA is better. All in one thread. I have to applaud you @RatAssassin.

    I truly wish I didn't have to.
But the truth hurts. I just wish I didn't have to learn it the hard and expensive way.
