Jessie's a sharp looking dog. Good at the retrieving thing too. But if I let mine do that? He'd eat the wabbit...kinda like Oscar did :)

thanks, I often wait for it to happen as she only gets fed at night when we are hunting to avoid twisting of her intestines. That was actually the first time she had ever retreived a mammal. Usually she just retrieves ducks and the occasional Upland bird.

Exactly. She is usually so excited to hunt she doesnt seem to mind not eating anyways. Plus shes a spoiled bird dog and gets bits and pieces of crap as we are sitting in the blind so im sure that helps ease the hunger.

Well, when she was little, I said the same thing. She is not papered, so it is possible she is part mal. However, she has one blue eye, and mals do not have blue eyes. She is also only about 50lbs at 1 year old, which would be on the small side for the female mals. But I do think she is part mal. Here are a few more pics.

One is when she was little, and my boyfriend gave her a bath. lol

In Sept '07, while visiting Mom in the big city, our 10 yr old Labherd (black Lab-German Shepherd cross) collapsed the day before a Tragically Hip concert. Misha had literally saved my life (long story), but now I was helpless to save her. Even the Vet (where we spent the next 10 hours) couldn't say what was wrong. We had to make the tough decision then, and subsequently drove home with her (12 hours) and laid her to rest in the shade of her favourite tree, where she can keep watch over us.

Two weeks later Tegan landed in our laps. There is no balm as soothing as a puppy's tongue. Tegan has filled our lives and is a worthy heir to the crown. She's just over 3 years now, 85 lbs of 3/4 Yellow Lab (read white) and 1/4 Husky; a bikehikeskipaddling beast.

She is the consummate thief; short list of stolen goods from my neighbours: 2 of those 3 ft tall plastic lighted candy canes, 8X12 area rug, 24 oz claw hammer, 2 pair leather work gloves, a child's ball and so on.
Then there's her daily thievings around the house (socks, slippers, papers, etc). She gives it all back when asked, but has never stolen food.

I'm at work so I only have a few early shots of her at about 6 weeks. We bought our first digital camera just to document her life.
    T4.jpgT3.jpgT2.jpgT5.jpgT1.jpg.
Well, another night shift over - time to go hang with my best friend. She's a good girl.

Yep, she's a doll. Reminds me of my old buddy Nikolai from 25 years ago, with almost identical face markings and body.
