So i bought the truck from my unlce and am waiting on the new title in the mail so while ive been waiting i replaced the rear diff. And put on new wheels and tires and now when im at about 60-65mph the whole truck vibrates. Where should i start to try and resolve this issue. I figured could be a drive line vibration from taking off and putting back on the driveline where it meets the diff and maybe its out of balance or as simple as an alignment. Just looking for advice please

Where does the vibration start, before the whole truck shakes.. front, middle or rear?

How many miles are on it?
Check the front tie rods and upper/ lower ball joints.
Could still be the drive shaft rear assembly not put exactly right. Did you lift it at all?

Im guessing i should start with an alignment because they are after market wheels on it now since i did the rear diff and also it didnt do this before the new wheels and diff

I'll only ask cause it wasn't stated. Before installing new wheels and tires did a shop balance them?

If so, lift the front of the truck up with the wheels on and check if you can wiggle them from top and bottom and side to side.

9 times out of 10 it's going to be those pesky lug nuts if the wheels were just changed or rotated.

It's always tough to help when we are only texting. I just want to cover the first thing you do with a set of wheels and tires. From there it would be lug nuts, my OEM lugs are not tapered, therefore I had to buy new lugs for my new wheels.

Yes they were balanced and everything and they are also the oem lugs and i have new black ones on the way to match the wheels so when those come in hopefully it will be something as simple as that. Never would have thought lug nuts could cause such a problem.

I would swap tires front to back and see if the vibration moves. If it does, its the tires, if it doesn't, its something suspension or axle. If you're feeling it more in the steering wheel than your butt, that says front end to me, but that isn't necessarily a guarantee.

I'm thinking the rear prop shaft could be an issue, possibly out of phase, especially if it was removed/and or seperate and you didn't know to keep it in phase.

are the wheels aftermarket? if so and you have the wheels and tires that were on it when your uncle owned it swap them out and go for a drive. when you pulled the driveshaft off the differental did you just lay it off to the side or did you pull the shaft apart?

Ok i will try that as well. Ive put a ton of money into this thing already but what can i expect with 200k on it. Still runs and drives decently other than this issue so really cant complain too much

I knew about it possibly being unbalanced so i marked it and thought i put it back on the same way although the mark kind of wore off so it was hard to tell. And i just moved it out of my way a little didnt fully disconnect
