We have a lot of CWD, but I don't know if that would make it run into something like that.

It may have been hit by a car and made it that far before expiring.

I don’t think so. It hit the fence hard and knocked two concreted poles halfway over and there was a big area in the fence that absorbed a lot of energy and ended up inside the fence. My neighbor and I had already fixed a lot of the fence before those pics because we had two drahthaars, two catahoulas, and a lab in the yard and didn’t want them to get out. They weren’t going anywhere though. Must have thought it was Christmas. They immediately started eating the butt.

Cutting jerky meat today. Saved the top round roast whole but the rest of this rear quarter was cut up for jerky. And yes my processor vacuum sealed a whole rear quarter haha

Deer do stupid shit on occasion. Most of the time when something is wrong, it leads to lethargy, and not sprinting headlong into a fence. I think your safe.

CWD is characterized by lethargy and aimless wandering in it's final stages, not to say that this deer isn't infected, but if it is, I think running into your fence is unrelated.
