Are Gen 3 Tacomas as unreliable as Tacomaworld makes them seem?

I still think it's a 3.3L but I guess with an aluminum body it's not overly heavy.

    Prior to 2017 Ford used a n/a 3.5. After that they went to a n/a 3.3.

Thank you for the info, had a feeling there was a 3.3 mixed in there somewhere.

Like a few others here, your comment is duly noted and I appreciate it.
Just that I hadn't planned on a trip out to my place, which is close to my parents but had to make on no notice due to a medical condition with my Dad.
So on top of that, I have a truck that throws fits on hills when using one of the simplest common convenience features.
A truck I was loving until I got it off of flat ground.
    I'm just very frustrated.

    My two are both 3.5's.
My one is a standard cab XL. I get 23 on the highway with it. 6.5 bed length and a fiberglass cap.
    *ETA....that truck is a 2wd.

If I recall correctly, 2wd reg cab short bed curb weight is 4343#. 3.3 HP is roughly 290 @ 6500 rpm and 265#ft @ 4000 rpm. Roughly equivalent to a Tacoma.

I should add that I'm going by memory here so if I'm off a bit don't crucify me. I test drove similar Fords when I was truck shopping a year and a half ago.

Don’t let any forum make your decision for you OP. As many others have said, people only comment when something is wrong. These are amazing well built trucks which will serve you many great years. Unfortunately, people have to find something to complain about. Impossible to make every single customer happy. If I were you, buy the truck and delete your account here and never look back hahahha. Save you tons of money to from the mod itch. Take care and good luck OP.

None of those issues here in 4 years. ZERO.
I have not had a single issue other than a battery.
    Solid truck, would buy again.

If it's like my Toyota car that has had only an O2 sensor go bad in 10.5 years, I'm good. Toyota rocks.

I feel like there's something wrong with your truck. My last 3 trucks are a Ranger 4.0L FX4, F150 V8 FX4 and a Hemi Ram 4x4. I'm not a big fan of the initial throttle response of my Tacoma (looking to get the OV tune) and it can hunt for gears but I haven't experienced anything even remotely close to what you're describing and I don't miss any of my old trucks when I drive it. Well, I may miss my old Ranger a bit just because I had so many good times getting lost in the woods in it.

Currently Have 2 Porsche’s and 4 in past history. They have been ultra reliable...but if something goes wrong it starts at $1k to fix if you bring it in to the dealer as they charge about $300/hr. So you learn to wrench yourself and they are not that bad to fix. So just like any car, learn something about it and it becomes surprisingly economical.

Every time I check in to the forum I swear I'm not going to look at this thread.....and then I get sucked in. Mega-Friday.

Oh, and @MESO , you need to work on a mod for the tailgate camera that adjusts the view when the tailgate is open or I'm going to have to sell this poorly designed truck.:thumbsup:

Please tell me the complaints about an automatic transmission shifting a lot while driving in cruise control over hilly terrain are just trolling...

Let me put it this way ,seems like all Toyota's get less and less reliable each new year, they are nothing like the Toyota's of pre 90's.
