Does anyone with a 2020 head unit know if an aux input can be added to it.

This head unit is to new that there doesn't seem to be really any after market products for it yet. I was hoping to use a bluetooth receiver that I'd been using in my last car because it's much more dynamic than the built in bluetooth in the truck. I tried connecting it to the USB input but the head unit wouldn't recognize it as a device so I'm thinking best case is an aux adapter that I can swap out with the XM connection but I haven't put the effort into pulling the unit to see what connections are even available. I get that wireless is the direction things are going but was hoping to incorporate this adapter because it has full EQ control and pre-amp capabilities which would make a huge difference.

This is the device for reference. I use it to power my 300 ohm headphones and would love to see what it could do for the truck.

For those of you with aftermarket head units, were you able to retain the truck settings screen with capability such as the option to unlock just the driver door or all doors when using the exterior touch sensor on the handle?

I got mine from infotainment and used the code JJJ, it’s pricey but you can sell them back your Entune 2.0. Mine arrived with the Sienna style which is 7", customer service said they made a mistake and they will give me the 8" with no CD player (2020 model), so the answer for the OP question is YES, its is possible at a $1300 cost.

they are changing the "Sienna like unit" to the 8" from the 2020 Tacoma, after that they will give a quote for my Entune 2.0, I estimate $300 - $400 for my radio.

Are you using the factory mic? One of the engineers who supposedly worked on the head unit said that there would be degraded performance from the mic if swapping a 2.0 head unit with a 3.0:

Do people notice any difference in the sound or have a harder time hearing you when you’re talking with them?

I’m using the OEM mic and I didn’t notice any difference in the sound quality of the microphone or the person I’m calling to.

So you were able to swap in a 2020 head unit into a non 2020? My question is, is it plug and play? My mom just bought a 2020 but she uses cd’s still so she wants me to swap head units with her. I have a 19.

yes that’s right, but you need a harness to do the retrofit, i got the unit with the harness from infotainment.com. I’m pretty sure they won’t sell the harness alone.

I think autoharnesshouse can make one for about $100, I ordered one from them for retrofitting my wife’s Sienna which has a very similar head unit, if not the same wiring.

Not sure about putting a ‘19 entune 2.0 head unit in a ‘20, that’ll be an interesting project. @AKSig88 might be able to tell us if it would work.

In general a CD player is definitely possible though, the 7” entune 3.0 head unit has a CD player and comes with some of the lower trims in the 2020.
