What rack are you using with the Diamondback? Never seen a mounted tent where you could still open part of the cover.

 

So I’m absolutely loving my tough stuff ranger tent but the latter seems super cheap. Does anyone know of a better latter that will fit? Iv heard tupui latter would work but wanted to see if someone could confirm?

Haha I should have been more clear. The tupei later will work but its out of stock at the moment so I was wondering is another grand/manufacture would work

It’s not just the rack, by Front Runner Outfitters. It’s partly the rtt, too, a Tepui Ayer II. ...and some creativity, trial-&-error R&D and real world use by me.

I was running it successfully for a few months or a year and saw that Mike from LLOD broke his crossbars set-up. I reached out to him on Youtube and he reached out to me here on Tacomaworld. A few months later after Mike’s been using his setup and showing it on his channel, Diamondback and FRO linked up to start selling the racks as a kit specifically for the HD and SE bed covers. However, Mike has his setup to not open either one of the cover panels. I may be the only one using the setup in this way.

It does look kind of odd the way things are positioned. I understand it ain’t for everyone. However, it works for me and I like it.

Stock lift/suspension, wheels and tires don’t seem to spread like wildfire on the gram...

 

Finally was able to try out my Tepui Kukenam

 

I am sure the answer is buried in here... but. How hard are these to get in and out of? I love the idea; however, my wife is a bit less mobile now from the cancer, and we are no longer in our twenties (50+)... and her concern is the middle of the night bathroom breaks and falling. Experiences? Advice?

 

I'm in my 30s and fairly active and it's a bit of a task to use the ladder. I would not recommend an RTT for your scenario.

 

I wouldn’t recommend it. For the reasons stated above.

 

Best advice is to get a lightweight tow behind camper i think in your scenario. While i sleep like a baby in it, my fiance never really does sleep good in it. We tried a couple different sleeping setups but for whatever reason she doesnt sleep good. Maybe we just need to pony up for the megamat duo --- or i need to start camping alone lol.... But the ladder i sense would be a little too much to deal with. Maybe if you somehow found and bolted up a really wide ladder with wider steps too it may ease things. But climbing down in the middle of the night when you gotta tinkle is like climbing down a black hole sewer drain ladder, your guessing your steps down. Unless you have your campsite still fully lit of course. But i feel like getting in/out can be somewhat awkward when the other person is sleeping.

 

Finally trying out the tents and trailer! Beautiful day and weather, even a mild rain shower to properly christen the tents.

New RTT owner here. I’m the 3rd owner of a titan off-road tent. So needless to say it’s used. The protective cover has some small holes in it. I’ve since repaired them. The tent it’s self is in pretty good condition considering. I’ve had it mounted on some bed bars for about a week. Also had lots of rain in the last week too. Opened it up on a recent camping trip and the mattress was soaked. So I let it dry for a couple days outside. Put it back in and the next morning it was super damp inside. With out me sleeping in it. All windows where open too.

I’m looking for some input on 1. Condensation is normal I get that. but is it normal to have ALOT of it.
2. What tricks can I use to kinda prevent it. Other than a condensation mat.
3. Will a new mattress solve some of the condensation problem?
previous owner said he’s never experienced that much.

I know folks will put a hanging dehumifiier bag in boats maybe that could help

 

This is another option if you already have a RTT. Pricey but there are other companies out there too.
https://rubiconep.com/hitch-tent-rack-system You'd attached your tent to a frame that then attaches to your tow hitch. Its low, can be left at the campsite while you drive off, etc.

I know you said besides a mat but I picked up my RTT secondhand and the previous owner had mat in the tent. I have had zero issues with condensation since owning my RTT. https://tepui.com/products/anti-condensation-mat-1
Maybe you could use something along those lines?

 

Those mattresses are foam. Im guessing it acted like a huge sponge when it got wet. Youll probably have to put it in a controlled area and run a dehumidifier next to it for a while to get it to fully dry out. You should also probably pull the mattress cover off and put that through the wash. Meanwhile open the tent up again on a real nice sunny day to let that thing really dry out. All in an effort to avoid any issues with mold.

Edit: clearly you're also going to need to figure out how the rain is getting in as well
