Excellent thanks. Would I be able to make a nice roast on a propane grill. And you think it will take a lot of fuel to start with. For example, should I use a full tank to start?

I have no clue. I'm not much of a cook and just getting into smoking. I've only done a pork butt and a brisket before today. @Bigdaddy4760 could probably answer this though.

Or convert that propane grill to natural gas and run it off the house system. I did mine years ago. Do not miss propane tanks and running out of gas mid grill session.

I used to have 2 tanks so I'd have a spare when needed...I just ended up with 2 empty tanks and a half cooked meal.

Definitely a bummer to run out. It’s even worse when you get home and your wife is freaking out that she couldn’t finish dinner that she took the time to make for me

You could do it if you have multiple burners. Keep one burner on low to keep the grill at 225-250, and put the meat on the opposite side. Get a smoke box or tube for smoke. Depending on the size of the roast, you might need 8 hours or so to cook it, plan gas supplies accordingly.

just got back from the range with @MattCowsmasher

Had a blast. We traded some guns a while back and I think we're both very satisfied with the trade.
