Correct. They come separately after you send the request for the ecu you want tune packs for

Where and how do you get the 2.0 final w/o gear lock tune then?

Depends. For the PC licensing it has to come from a 3rd party and takes a little time. I ordered during a busy time and it took about 2 weeks. I've seen people more recently get then in a maybe 4 business days.
Once your licensing is all set you can install the .p5f files from here. https://www.ovtuned.com/blogs/news/tacoma-2-0-final-auto-release

Technically, the ‘tune packs’ were meant to be the collection of 1.03, 1.05, 1.051, 2.0 betas, etc. this was for the guys that wanted to purchase VFTuner so they could bake their own tune. These were to be VF versions of the Prior tunes plus the Final 2.0 tunes.

That’s what I recall. The latest download sets have also been called ‘tune packs’ but I think it doesn’t match the original intent. Albeit it they ARE tune packs.

What is throttle tip-in? I’ve heard this term referenced many times but no description of what it means. I searched here and on google but didn’t find anything useful.

Tip in is a measure of how responsive the throttle is off of idle.

So in stock form, the “tip in” can be described as “terrible”. This is one of my reasons for wanting this tune and not just getting a cheap pedal commander to fix it.

Now that 04B14 tune packs are out I finally unlocked my ecu and played around with this a little bit and I have a couple questions

My biggest beef with this truck has always been the throttle response, particularly free revving in neutral/clutch in, it's terribly slow and makes rev matching very difficult, so my main goal is to make it as snappy as possible. If I'm understanding correctly though, the table you highlighted there would be mostly making changes to response while in gear under load, is that correct? Does that table have any effect on throttle response out of gear or should I be looking at the Primary Throttle Torque Target (with no gear mentioned) for that situation? Or is this something that I would need to tackle through the fueling tables? Also, how do the Request to Airload tables fit into this?

Another thing I would like to try to eliminate is rev hang, is this something that can easily be tweaked through the throttle tables or is that something I would need to work on through the fueling and/or mass airflow tables?

I've never really messed with direct injection let alone something that has both direct and port injection so starting out I feel like I've got quite a learning curve to figure out how the two systems play off of each other and what changes to the various fuel tables are going to actually do.

Lastly, I read somewhere on here a while back that it would be possible to adjust for bigger tires, but then later on read a response that this was controlled through a different ecu and is not a capability with VF Tuner. However, I see a table in there labeled Drivetrain Control - Tire Size and the current value in it is 0 inch diameter. Is this just used for engine control calculations or will it actually adjust my speedo? If so do I put my actual tire diameter in or since it's defaulted to 0 do I just put in a value for however many inches bigger my tires are than stock?

    Thanks!

Edit:. Also, in other tuning software I've used you could highlight sections of a table and increment the whole section up or down by a certain value or percentage but so far it looks like the only way I can change values in here is to double click and type in a new value in each individual cell. Is there a feature somewhere that I'm overlooking to make this quicker?

Oh thanks, I hadn't come across that post. Bummer that it doesn't work that way but at least that clears up some confusion

Otherwise, the MT tunes have a Single Toque Map for all gears. Mine seems to respond well in neutral or in gear.

Rev Hang was tested in the development of 2.0. The test tunes caused a limp mode unfortunately. The big outcome was that the DFCO cut in was dropped a long way in all gears except for 1st, where it was dropped a bit. That small drop in 1st is a significant improvement though.

If you ever figure out the clutch in throttle response thing, you'll be legendary.
While the single torque map has improved throttle response greatly by making it consistent across all gears, rev match blip is unfortunately still slow.. at times. I wish there was a way to link the clutch in signal to a specific super responsive map lol.

I got my reg file today! It says in the instructions to send the calibration, calibration file, and part number to OV for and they'll send you back a stock tune file. Does this need to be completed before the truck can be flashed with "2.0 final"? (NOT 2.0 Full)
