Hey guys, brand new to this forum and I need some help.

I am looking at a 2013 manual TRD off-road Tacoma and was wondering what I should be looking out for in a used sale.

The vehicle has average mileage and appears to be in great condition. The owner did mention that the rear leaf springs would have to be replaced soon however he also mentioned that the trow out bearing would also have to be replaced.

I did some research and apparently that is a design flaw in the gen 2 6 speed manual transmission?

Is there any way to fix the issue? How serious is it?

I have been looking online and seen answers from it's only cosmetic to bearing replacements every 5k miles.

Any and all help/advice would be much appreciated!

    Thank you!

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:
Frame rust is a major concern on these rigs.

Thank you for the reply. Is that the frame rust created by moisture inside the frame or is it exterior?

Is there anyway to check/prevent it?

From the inside out they rust.
Have your mechanic look at it or take it to a Toyota dealership and have it inspected.
Do you have a link to the truck ?

Oooof !! Pricey for a 13 unless those modifications are what your into.
    80k miles is low.
Have you priced out a new one ?

What do you think a reasonable offer would be?
From what I can tell 2020 manuals are only offered in the TRD Pro trim and go for around 52k.

I am open to buying new but would prefer spending under 40k.

It says offroad on the bed but you have a Sport hood. Guy might have just upgraded the hood at some point.
Looks like it’s in Alberta ?

I don’t think that is an OR model, looks like a modified Sport due to the color matched Bumpers, hood... and 2013 OR’s did not have that sticker to my knowledge. Or that’s just how they do things up North?!

It's got the Sport scoop AND the Sport mirrors. I'd guess it's a Sport, with Off-Road stickers. So, I'm betting there's no locker, unless he added one, and it should be listed in the goodies in the add.
I could see someone swapping hoods, but mirrors???? Not me.

I wouldn't buy it just because of the damned Off Road stickers on a Sport. That's just cheesy.
Ask the seller who put the OR stickers on it and if it has a rear diff lock. I know it shouldn't, but this kind of stuff irritates me. I dislike the term, but that is false advertising.

Ok, did a little more looking, those are not 2013 TRD Off Road stickers. Those are a newer version.
I have a 2014 TRD OR.....dude's just trying to be like me.
Message him and tell him you're driving 300 miles to look at it. If it doesn't have a rear diff lock, you're gonna be PISSED!
