Any woodworkers?

Finished one for my son-in-law. His dog is even named Strat.
(Fender Stratocaster guitar headstock)

 

I sanded and finished this maple herringbone floor this week, there's two rooms that have this same pattern.
Some guys use a roller coating pattern floors so they can coat across the grain of the wood but when it dries you can always see an orange peel.
I coat with an applicator with the grain of the wood as much as possible - I also put the water based poly in the fridge for an hour prior to coating so that the finish will dry slower and lay down flatter.

 

That's spectacular! I wished my floors looked like that. But then I wouldn't want anyone to walk on them.

 

It’s like that couch your grandma had, no one was ever allowed to sit on it. Also if you let your sherbet ice cream melt, you drank it...

 

Many years ago I sanded some floors in Compton, CA. I remember asking the elderly lady if her couch was new because it had the plastic covers on it and it was in perfect condition.
She said it was 30 years old, she bought when they bought the house. We were sanding the floors in the bedrooms and there was also plastic runners on the living room carpet..

A little clear coat really makes this walnut pop... Working on a folding table now... Not to be confused with a folding table though... This is apparently a shelf in the laundry room that one would would fold clothes on, not a stow-away table that one would play cards on

 

Two different sizes. The larger ones are approximately 5 1/2” wide and the smaller ones are 4 1-2” wide.

 

I think that is just an optical illusion they are just rough sawn and I palm sanded em down...

 

I made a Fender one earlier so I had to make this Les Paul one. And a few more pick shaped ones.

The guitar box cut is at about 4 o’clock. You can see it on the inside wall.

 

Still a good blend in.

 

That’s the trick, cutting with the grain. It’s a well done skill.

 

A buddy of mine made me this neck support for working on my guitar a while ago, most luthiers and guitar repair guys have a simple version of something like this.
I've had this idea for a while but I don't have any type of work space to work in. I was thinking that this could compliment your pick holders.
My idea was to make the vertical part that supports the neck the shape of a guitar body, with the neck being supported by the curve in the body.
The measurements don't have to be exact but the one I have both pieces are 4X8-1/2 and the neck pocket is approximately 3 inches high from the table, and there's also a little piece of leather for protection.
I just thought this would be a great side project for someone with exotic wood scraps. The little sound hole is optional but if you really wanted to get fancy you could even ad a rosette around the sound the hole..
