I did the CAI mod with that duct, the oem "intake accelerator" (rubber funnel), eliminated the secondary filter in the stock airbox, and replaced the stock primary filter with a K&N. Many said it would be loud, I didn't notice any increased noise. What I did notice was that a "hesitation" I was experiencing went away. When, say, pulling away from a stoplight, I'd be smoothly accelerating for a short distance until it hit a sort of wall and lost power. It was like the motor was starved for air or fuel. Bugged the hell out of me. I did the mod as a sort of experiment (that seems to have worked). The butt dyno says that, between the CAI and MBRP exhaust, I must have gained 10HP (sadly, my butt does lie on occasion). I would have liked to have had some actual measurements to see what changed. I've been running that setup for almost 2 years and have no plans to change it.

    Minor stuff.
I have the Voodoo Blue push ALT J start & 4X4 trim. If you want it, PM me. I was expecting a different look that did not flow in my truck.

If you're like many of us your OCD will drive you crazy until you get the whole tailgate done. The pen will camouflage it and keep it from rusting if you got down to bare metal but it will be noticeable. Guess it all depends how you want your Tacoma to look.

In my own experiences I've found that if you let one thing go then the next thing that happens isn't as big a deal. And the the next and the next after that until finally it's not the truck you used to love. If you want to keep it looking new I'd fix things as they happen. Just my 2 cents.

It's all in what you want your Tacoma to look like and it's real easy for me to spend someone else's money. Personally I'd get it fixed when I could afford to do so.

Your Tacoma, you money your choice. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

    Nice set-up.

Just an FYI ... tire sidewall says "Cooper".
    Profile says "Copper".

yeah that’s the goal, I know for a fact it will drive me crazy and never have that piece of mind until I get the tailgate repainted. Unfortunately, it did get down to the bare metal so I will be touching it up temporarily.

I kind of figured you'd go that route. Touching it up for now is the right thing to do. Tacomas don't come cheap and unless one is fortunate enough to have deep pockets taking good care of it is a very smart move.

I was told by a dealership that there’s a sticker on the drivers door that has whatever color code they need to match your paint. So you can snap a pic of the label and show it to an authorized parts dealer and they can look it up. Or you can give the dealer the vin number and they can search it.
