This may not be the right place for this, but here goes... I just purchased a loaded 2020 DCLB OR back in Feb and I'm already planning to sell it in the next month or 2. I know I know! The problem is the 6 speed automatic...I absolutely hate it. I really thought I'd be able to get use to it, but I'm even more annoyed by it now than when I first got the truck. I've exclusively owned manual vehicles my entire life and this is my first automatic in 20 years! I chose the auto because I wanted the long bed for a future camper, but it was the wrong choice, especially considering the well known quirkiness of this particular auto. I should have got the short bed with a manual.

Anyway, I have a pretty good idea of how much I should get for it, but I'm actually looking to get a bit of advice on what you all think I should ask for it. You can kind of see it in my profile pic, but it's it excellent condition, not a scratch. It's like new inside and out and only 2 passengers have ever been in it, back seat never used, cargo bed used only twice. It has approx 9,300 miles on the odo, I commute 85 miles per day, all highway. The only mod I've done was upgrading interior, license plate and backup lighting to LED. Thanks!

    Here are the details:
    MSRP: $45,236
Double cab long bed TRD off road
Magnetic gray metallic with black leather seats
    TRD premium off road package
    Technology package
LED headlights with black bezel LED fog lights
    Predator side steps
    All weather floor liners
    Door sill guards
    Mud guards

I'd say go to KBB and put your info in and shoot for "excellent" trade in value. Also, remove any accessories and sell them separately or move them to the new truck (if you can) so you don't have to pay for them again. Generally they aren't going to give you any extra for your trade in for them, or at most literal pennies on the dollar.

It is also an extra lever you can pull and work with the dealer on for your OTD price. If they aren't willing to come down in the sale price on the new truck as much as you want, see if they'll come up some on your trade in.

There is no "used" vehicle data for 2020 vehicles yet. That's why I'm asking here :)

In a situation like yours, I personally would just be happy getting out from underneath it. I would ask above what I owed, but would take whatever I actually owed or really close to it so I could move on. I'm a mileage snob, so for a 4 month old truck with 9300 on it already, that would be a pass for me out of the gate regardless how nice it is. If I am going to be spending 40k+ on a 2020 Tacoma, I rather just buy a new one or wait for the 2021s to come out, instead of buying a 4 month old one with 9300 already on the clock. What I think bodes in your favor is that yours is nicely optioned and there is extremely low inventory at dealerships across the country now. Buyers might be more willing to overlook the mileage because they can't find a new one. Just my 2 cents.

It’s hard to buy a used 2020 when there’s some really good incentives to buy new. The only problem is the short supply right now.

I expect to get what it's worth, like anyone would. My situation is irrelevant to the price. Also, I think it crazy to pass on any vehicle just because of mileage, especially if it's a nice deal and well cared for. Besides, 9300 miles is literally nothing, barely broken in.

in your view, how much room is there is between "what it's worth" and a "nice deal"? have you considered getting a tune or pedal commander? or are you dead set against the automatic? i know Tacoma's hold their value, but i'm having a hard time seeing how selling this truck isn't going to hurt, at least a little.

Oh, I didn't even look for that. :anonymous:

Depending what you put as a down payment, as others said you might be lucky to just get enough to pay it off and be out from under it. Honestly I'd be surprised if you can even get that and don't roll over at least a bit of it. I'm about to trade in my 2019 for a 2020 and barely going to make out with it.

Tacomas hold their value well, but nothing is given, especially in the current situation/economy!

I never said it wasn't going to hurt, of course I'm going to take a beating after only owning it for 5 months. All I'm saying is that I'm not going to give it away for nothing. Whatever price I ask will be a nice deal, meaning thousands less than the average negotiated price for a new one, but significantly more than a dealer would offer for trade...somewhere near the middle of those 2 numbers.

I put a decent amount down, so there is some equity.
