If you can afford one Bay Area home then you can afford two Texas homes, or at least a very large one. I’ve been wanting to goto Texas since high school. For me it’s just always had this weird charm to it.

Also you guys see the Dodge Ram TRX?

There is another VW TDI idler pulley that’s smaller. It’s approximately 28mm diameter and 28mm depth with overall length of 33mm. It will sit the belt right in the middle of the pulley with no grinding. All you would need is a longer bolt.

Would provide slightly less pulley wrap than the one @BillDaCat8 is using. I haven’t tried it though. Might wear quicker due to it spinning faster or the bearings may be smaller. It might blow your truck up or something so use your best judgment here.

    My shit is all stock.
Oh hey, look at that. Looks very similar to the bigger one I went with.

I agree about the smaller diameter and the speeds it’d be running at. I have my concerns about the larger one that I’m running as it is. So far it’s been fine though. Had it off a few weeks ago when I put the fancy spark plugs in and it still felt fine.

I decided to throw it on for the hell of it, just to see how it fits. With the 2.7 pulley, Roush tensioner and stock length belt, I don’t think it’s necessary at all for my combination of parts. I took a pic for y’all before taking it back off.

Hey all. Hope your all well.
Starting to get bad belt squel from main belt. Brand new belt, new idle pulleys and new tensioner and tensioner pulley have all be done. Starts to squel at around 3500 revs.
Do I need a better tensioner? High performance one of some sort? Or just change my crank pulley?
    Thanks

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
I would try the water technique to find out what is squealing. Take a spray bottle and squirt each pulley individually until the squealing stops then you know which one to swap. I would spray the SC pulley last which would help you determine if your squeal is coming from slippage or not. There aren’t any other points where slippage would make a noise except for that one. Then you can walk back tensioner or perhaps smaller belt depending on where the tensioner is across its effective range.

1500 miles on the Rutheniums.. they look considerably cleaner than my Iridiums ever did.

Let’s see how these rutheniums look at 30k before ranting and raving

I don't count on 30K, but there was no ranting and raving, only stating the facts of my findings which at this moment appear favorable over the latter.

    Which one? #2 and #6?

its just a combo of extensions and flex joints. first time changing plugs w/o pulling blower. almost 3 hours. takes about half that including pulling the blower. ill never pull plugs with it on again.

I just changed my plugs the other day for the first time with the S/C and I’m not sure what all the fuss is about. I didn’t use any fancy tools or any flex joints. I used two 3” extensions, a 10mm socket, a magnetic spark plug socket, a 1/4” to 3/8” adapter and a 1/4” drive ratchet. It was much easier than expected

Geez, what did you do for those 3 hours, pop open a few cold one and take a few hour long breaks while you were at it?

I'm not sure what the big deal is either.

Yeah I’ve seen the pics of the tools used. But some people make it sound so easy, I’d like to see a video of it been done.
