Sounding like a southern CT project weekend formulating....

 

My son stopped by for a visit.

 

Broke down & ordered the Tacoma a muffler off Partsgeek.
...& the gasket. & they charge shipping for each item - bastards.
Wonder what will come. Ordered something black. I know I've never been enthused with Walker, so went with the black not Walker one. Saved about $300 from Toyota new. Ships from MA so maybe arrive this week? Installations next weekend & hitch? Seems like it might be a holiday weekend then. Dang - summers' 1/2 over already. WTH is happening, who set time on hyperspeed?

 

Sweet, where in MA was it heading from?

Happy Sunday. Day to take the in-laws to the airport, so they can go to Portugal for the summer... Maybe.

 

Uhhh, are they allowing travel from the US?

Me thinks they might want to pack an extra pair or two of undies in case they can’t come back for a while...

As of right now the flight is still on. Guess we'll see when it's actually boarding time later.

My flight in August... No so sure about that just yet, with all these rumors and regulations flying around.

 

My frustration for the week--Not Tacoma related.

I needed to put new tires on a 12 speed bike that Im putting on the road-sidewalk so i can ride with the grand Kids.
The frustration is this, I needed a tube (27 x 1 1/4 ) so off to the neighborhood Wall Mart, no only didn't have any tubes but no bicycles anywhere.

A glutton for punishment I made 4 more visits to area Wall Marts --no luck.

Went to the local Trex Corporation Bicycle Newington Ct. store and was told that they didn't want any customers in the store in a snarky tone , I said thank you and started to walk out of the store as they started laughing at me. That pissed me off and I kept walking . If they used a different tone I maybe consider making a purchase there in the future. NOT going to happen.

The thing is they had no clue as to if I was going to buy a $3000.00 bike ,or 10 different bikes, or a $10.00
purchase.

I guess with lack of sales for 3+ months they forgot how to interact with customers, maybe if I purchased a $3000.00 bike their bottom line might look good on the plus side of the books.

I fixed my frustration (lack of tubes) by taking a tube off of my spare bike until stores restock.

Rant over , and bike on the road-sidewalk .

Time for a couple of cool ones.

Stupidity. Complete stupidity and ignorance.

Not surprised about the lack of parts though..people are buying bikes and parts faster than the stores can get em, my local shop is 4 weeks out for doing most work as well. Amazon the one you need as a spare though would be my advice.

 

Stores have been out of bicycles for a long time, shortage while everyone is home during COVID and seeking to do active stuff.

My go to is REI in West Hartford, their customer service is always great and have stock in most things on the spot.

 

I've been shopping online but mostly for older stuff anyway, not stuff I can get in a LBS

 

Pedal Power in Vernon, Middletown, or Willimantic is pretty good. I have only had to stop in once or twice but service was fine.

A little off topic plug here... (if there was actually a topic here), but if anyone was on the fence about getting OVtune on their truck I'm local and offering flashing as a service for 3.5L trucks MT/AT. As soon as the editable AT files are released I can adjust charge voltages as well as shift points if the files I currently have don't work for you.

 

not good idea. dislike. CT over hump, Portugal not so much.
