@EatSleepTacos Randy, got the GMRS radio in. This thing isn't supposed to have constant static is it? Only happens when antenna is screwed on.

It’s not. Where are you tapping into power? Have any other cables ran near the antenna cable?

Power is coming from sPOD. Probably all kinds of wires running near the antenna wire. Just to clarify it's the null transmission static.

It's the antenna cable. Works great when truck is off. FML. No idea where else to run this through the firewall.

It sounds like it’s ran near some power cables that are interfering. Where is your antenna mounted?

Ditch light bracket. Then goes down to the firewall grommet and into the cabin. There's a cajillion powered wires there.

If the cable has poor shielding, then the signal can be interrupted/intercepted. They do make triaxial cable (tempest compliant), which should fix your problem

Oh cool. I'll take a look and see what I find. If not, I'll just reroute and see if that helps. Thanks.

If you're using RG58 or some other cable, I've found LMR-200 coax superior for shielding. Solved the issue for me at least and I haven't gone back in any of my installs.

I'll keep that in mind. I think I know what my problem is. I should know for sure in a few days.

Skids are on. Was a relatively straight forward process. Need to do some touch up in the AM but I feel pretty good about the situation should I have to tear them off.

You went BAMF right? Did you just get an engine skid or the whole trifecta?

I'm fine. Thanks for your concern. Haven't been driving, so haven't been doing anything to the truck, and got lazy.

I think I have put maybe 200 miles on my truck since early march. Sort of feel like dhe is now a garage decoration. I need to head to a trail.
