Yeah I have 2017 trd OR in the front and they ride like shit IMO. I'm just saving up for 6112s now

I got a set of 2016 OR Front coils and shock assemblies that I haven’t had the chance to install yet. Down the road I intend to swap out the stock 2016 Bilsteins for 5100s. since I have 2016 coils do I need to get 5100s for the 3rd gen Tacoma’s or just stick with the 5100s for the 2nd gens?

2016 coils are heavier- damping on the 5100 for 2016-up are probably stronger to compensate. The OEM struts between the two are different part#s due to damping, so I imagine the 5100s are as well despite being physically similar.

I swapped mines as well along with 3rd gen leaf. Front gave me 1in lift and rear gave me 0.5in lift. My rear was 2+1 leaf compared to to the newer 3+1 leaf if that matters to anyone. Definitely rides a lot better.

Did 2019 trd Offroad trucks come with yellow and blue bilstein Toyota shocks? The reason I ask is someone is selling a set of shocks and coils supposedly off a 19 trd or and if the photo is way off I don’t want to waste my time. Are these the shocks that will lift me a bit since they are 3rd gen?

Installed 2016 Front TRD OR coil assemblies on my 2015 TRD Sport. Slight lift, between .50”x.75”. I like the ride, especially less body roll in curves. Very easy job, my advice is hit all bolts involved with PB Blast several days before. I was lucky, the previous owner must off regularly hosed off the undercarriage regularly because there’s very little corrosion for a mid Atlantic state that salts their roads like a pretzel in the winters.

They will look nearly identical to the 2nd gen OR suspension and you can tell it's Sport suspension if they are blue Hitachi shocks rather than yellow Bilstein.

The only visual difference I saw between the 2nd and 3rd gen OR suspension is the colored dots on the springs and the part numbers on the shock bodies. I have some pics somewhere I could dig up if you need to confirm part numbers.

Have a 2015 Tacoma xspx got it with 60k think it still may havr original suspension. Found a 2020 tacoma off road suspension for sale. Do i need just the front and back bilsteins in the photo or do i need the bottom leaf springs and stuff too. Thanks in advance

You don’t need the leafs. The front coil assemblies give you the lift, so if you grab the coil assemblies and the rear Bilsteins and your good.

Saw your post on FB..... seems to be a lot of people telling you not to do this. Says it rides horrible. That’s the first I had seen any comments like that.

my plan was 3rd gen stuff with a 1” lift added to the front and a 1.5” to the rear.......

I’ve seen that too, most people like the swap while a handful of folks don’t. I actually like the ride better, although stiffer, it’s much better cornering. When I went into curves with my 2nd gen suspension the body roll was annoying. To me it seems a little more sure footed and solid, which I prefer.

He did mention he had all hardware ecxept one bolt they used to put his new set on said mine would fit. Not positive what he was talking about tho

I replaced my 2013 sport suspension (130k) with a 2020 off road (2k) and the it made the truck feel new again. Would recommend.
