Has anyone had an alignment issue with there truck mine had only 17K on it and Toyota claims it is out of alignment never hit a pothole. They have this new machine when you go in for service that reads it when you pull in. Can a Truck come from the factory like that

What ever you do never never ever trust a machine like that.
    To many variables for calibration.
The only way you are sure is a actual alignment on a calibrated ramp..
We had one for 30 days and every alignment I did , the quick check and actual alignment was
Not even close in some cases. We got rid of it..

They should be able to do a free check, and give you a print out of what out off alignment. Seem like you are stock, since you didn't mention anything regard dealer mention why your alignment is off. Go to firestone, pepboys etc... where they have life time alignment package and just pay once, and get all the alignment you want...

I’m not completely sure, but I suspect my 2020 came from the dealer with a bad alignment. It seemed like it pulled a little to the left. However, I didn’t have it checked until after upgrading the suspension and adding 2” of lift. My pre-alignment measurement showed the toe all screwed up. Everything else was I spec. I did the install myself and left all the adjustments as is and the spc UCA in the neutral position. The shop brought the toe into spec. It drives better now.

Alignment specs will change just by sitting in the vehicle.

    True That !!

my toyota dealership uses the " Hunter HawkEye " in the service lanes
1st time ive seen 1 after goin in for 10k check lst week

results in $89.00 front end alignment ...............

i watched for over an hour as diff cars subs & light truck went thru the svc lanes

    Very Inconsistent
where the unit would pick up the wheel units on the vehicle
sometimes the car wasnt even square or straight in the lane

each driver / customer. / victim was given a printout

while i was there no one was given an out o alignment
best i could tell the overhead last unit could tell is it was out
tho most prinouts had actual indicators

    new cars
    new trucks
new vehicles are NOT given a 45min-1 hour alignment b4 they leave the factory
they are set to a cursory generic mean
if they were to do a brand new alignment it would take toooooo long

no less most vehicles take a road ' SET ' after a few thousand miles o running

i usually get to the front alignment the 1st new set replacement tyres

    good luck

    Timely topic!
I have a 19 Taco with 13,300 miles and have pretty significant steering wheel shake while at freeway speeds. Is that normal for a Taco? It’s getting serviced tomorrow at the dealer and when I mentioned it during my appointment call the advisor said Toyota would have taken care of it during the first year if under 12,000 miles. Otherwise if it’s needed, it’s about $190 for the dealership to do it.

    Questions
    1. Any chance in hell I can convince the service advisor to do it for free since I’m barely outside of 12k?
    2. If/when he says gtfo, are you guys comfortable taking your ride to a place that only does the alignments? It’s gotta cost less than the dealership.

    Thanks very much gents.

    stock............. mods ????????

its not normal to ANY vehicle

i only go to truck shops that repair/ align trucks

they have truck experience + expertise as opposed to just having serviced a prius / Camry
    now lookin at UR ride

    i have a 19.......11k no issue
dont plan on shakin it down until i repalce front tyres
not every person or vehicle have that latitude

at this juncture all U can do is take it in

    good luck

I’d suggest a lifetime alignment from Firestone. Really good at alignments and for the cost of 2.5 alignments, you get unlimited for as long as you own the truck

It’s a stock 19 TRD Sport. Haven’t taken it off road, it’s a city ride pretty much.
    Thanks!

I’ve had 3 T4Rs. Great vehicle. I always take my trucks/suvs to Firestone after lifting or if things are off, they always get it done right the first time. They offer single alignments, 3 months, and lifetime

If it drives fine and you are sure no impacts, I'd just drive it, and wait until you change tires or hit a large road hazard.

    Sorry one last question.
Does Toyota care cover engine and cabin air filters? If not- is it tacky to tell the service advisor I’ll just get my own? When I had my 4R, the dealership charged me $50 for an engine air filter that I found on Amazon for $20. I have to assume you guys don’t pay for something at the dealership when you can save some easy money. Or am I overthinking? Thanks so much.

That's the downside of having adjustability in the way your wheel track down the road. Over time, just the forces of driving will change things. Honestly, 17k sounds about right. I usually have mine checked every 10k, and adjustments are usually made every other check up so about 20k

Many years ago there was a "scuff" machine (Made by Bear?). You drove the front wheel over a grid plate and it measured the "Toein" / Scuff of the tires. Only did Toe. Crap machine in my opinion. Need to get it on the Rack and do a 4 wheel laser alignment.
