Two incidents. First time was when I first got into mountain biking. Didn’t really know much. Came in for some help and was sure how to pronounce Truvativ. Guess I pronounce it wrong cause they laughed at me. Felt like I was being made fun of. Second time was recently. Waited 10-15min at the counter only for the person behind the computer to asked the next person that walked through the door if they needed help while I been waiting. I’ve gone there a few times before. Some times the service is decent but those two times stand out. Maybe it’s just the luck of the draw of who’s working that day?

Now most my purchases are from World Wide Cyclery. Which I guess is kind of like a LBS originally.

interesting. I’ve had some interesting encounters there but nothing like that. The staff is pretty much always super friendly and helpful. Last time I went was before all the close downs and I asked one of he guys at the counter a question. He said he didn’t know the answer so he called over one of the guys working in the mechanic space, 10 feet away. He answered the question as then All 3 of us ended up just chatting and shooting the shit for 20 minutes. Definitely good dudes. They even went out and pulled some of the demo bikes and one of the freshly built switchblades for me to ride around the parking lot. They added pedals to the switchblade from the demo bike right there so I could. I never got to go back to demo those bikes but I plan to when all the shenanigans are over. I’m sorry you had a rough experience there though. They are definitely one of the best in the area in my opinion. Pro Bike Supply in Newport, across the street from Hoag, is another good one. They have a smaller shop but love doing custom stuff for people. Lots of demo bikes too.

Nice that blue is sweet. You’ll dig 130. I thought my 140 would be to much but the frame geo is good for 140. Made my riding position a lot more comfortable.

Yours is setup 27.5+ right? Think that's the way to go vs 29?

Do you ever get shipping information from Worldwide Cyclery? Placed 3 orders with them in the last 6 months or so, and they've never sent information regarding shipping or tracking. Usually the day i go to email them and ask where my order/tracking info was that i ordered over a week ago, 5 hours later it shows up at my door. Somehow it always happens the day i email them to ask where it is, it shows up that day.

27.5 is super fun around corners and dh. I like climbing tech climbs, cross country stuff I think 29 is the way to go for that.

    also it’s personal preference aswell

I think a separate thread would be good. I mean we're just shy of 1000 pages. Keeping bike check stuff in one place to ask questions seems like it would be more useful. Keep this thread to BS.

I'm about to start a thread, but where would it go?
Edit: NM, just found the sports and hobbies forum space. I'll put one up soon.
Can this thread be moved there?!

After a 1000 pages, 3rd gen is home now haha. @abacall are you going to start the bike check thread? Maybe a uniform format for listing out parts and such?

Anybody use a swing arm attachment for their bike rack? I have a 1up rack and I'm looking into swings so I can access the truck bed easier. Looks like Thule, Yakima, Kuat, and 1up all make them but I can't find a good comparison review. Anybody use one of these? Leaning towards 1up to keep things in sync.

What do you do when you are driving alone with your bike, on a long drive to a bike park or a place for a vacation, and you have to pull over and get out of the car to stop at a rest station / diner for a quick shit / something to eat?

How do you lock the bike to your truck to stop it from getting stolen in those 5-10 minutes you are leaving it unwatched?

my rocky mounts has a lock built in to it so I use that. It came with nylon lock pods so I replaced them with the upgrade metal pods.

when using a tailgate pad, I put a bike lock through the frame and rear wheel, and then padlock the bike lock to the d ring.
