    Hello everyone,

I've had my Tacoma a month and a half now. I've noticed that I get an insane amount of bugs on the windshield. And they get stuck on there good too. A drive through car wash doesn't get them off there. Does anyone have experience with bug deflectors actually helping? I never owned a vehicle that got so many bugs on the windshield.
Also, is there any special requirements for maintenance with a TRD package, anything different with brakes or tire rotation? Thanks everyone

    Welcome aboard.

We usually install 5 or 6 geckos on the hood to take care of extra insects

Bug deflectors work somewhat. They redirect the airstream over the windshield to help eliminate them hitting direct on. Usually Better for the smaller bugs. Use steel wool when cleaning the windshield to help get them off

Rain-X helps a bit. Get a small spray bottle and put some peroxide in it. Spray the bugs and let it soak for a few minutes and then wash them off. They will come off much easier. Peroxide will not harm the glass or the paint.

Get some.orange or green rainX windshield washer fluid. After using it.to clean your windshield for a few weeks the bugs come.off easy.

    No special maintenance requirements lol.

The cleanest I ever got my windshield was using "Bar Keepers Friend", I just make sure to rinse off ALL of the residue, cause it will eat away most metals. Someone mentioned steel wool, just make sure it's 3xxx or 4xxx. You want it to look like the thickness of a hair. Also DON'T use it on plastic, like chrome, side view mirrors, or your instrument cluster.

I've never had any luck with rainX. While it works, the glass always shows swirl marks. Ive had the best luck with Nu-finish, it won't show and repels water and bugs as good as rainX.

Whatever you are using on your paint for protection weather it be wax, sealant, hybrid wax, carnauba, put it on your windows, headlights and side markers to help keep shit from sticking including bugs.

I forgot to mention, if your using steel wool, make sure not to use any liquid. Dry only!
