I am sure it will just wish we didn’t have to jump through so many hoops just to get a defective part that they know about replaced.

Called dealership today, they also said "prob sept." Wonder why they cant just use the pumps they are installing on 2020 tacomas?

So we’re there any symptoms before it failed or did one day the truck just not start?

That's crazy! 3 months in a rental. Is the dealer refusing to fix it because they don't have the 'fixed' part for the truck yet?

Doesn’t look that way. Apparently they’re waiting for the remedy. When the second gen had frame rot issues, Toyota repaired them all. Cost them 10’s of millions. Paying for some rentals is nothing for them.

Meanwhile I don’t dare drive the taco long distance. And that means nothing to them.

I’ll drive it around here, but I need to take a load of crap to my daughter in VA. (1175 miles one way). My luck it would shit the bed about half way there. Nope...

I have heard that the problem is both software and pump impeller absorbing gas and swelling, but that it mostly happens in warm climates. So where are you located?

My dealership told me they are already doing the recall work on the Camry's and Corollas. She told me to keep calling in for the Tacoma :annoyed:

Call up and ask about the recall on your Corolla. You might get the answer they are working on the Tacomas.

I’m curious to know too! I have done a lot of research on this and it looks like most reports of failed pumps are coming from the southwest and Florida. Curious to see if he lives in a hot or desert climate

I am wondering if the swelling is more prevalent with gas with ethanol than it is with ethanol-free gas? Many years ago I remember having fuel pump issues when track changed the rules for their version of limited sprint cars and went from race gas to methanol. If took most everyone a while to resolve the fuel pump/system issues. And I've seen similar issues when ethanol gas fuel is left for anytime in small gas engines, and boat engines. Ethanol is evil.

Really not that bad, kinda used to it. And I keep 40 pack of water in the bed at all times for such occasions.
