It's a pretty nice area. Love the area around Cone Peak.

We checked that area out for future camping. I liked it, but kiddos seriously hated the flies.

The flies suck. Along N-F Road, there are several developed sites with nothing but flies. Gotta camp where there's a breeze.

I saw those on my way in.

Prewitt ridge was a fly/shit show. But once we went south of there we only saw a few vehicles, all 4x4 trucks/jeeps. We took coast ridge road to los burros before taking that to the coast.

I'd be interested in going further south next time. Maybe coming in from the east further south if possible and skipping what we drove today.

It was just me, my wife, and kids, so yes. The f150 half way off a cliff was on his own. I tried quickly to winch him after anchoring myself to a tree, but knew he was too heavy. I helped dig him out for an hour hoping another rig with a winch would go by. Luckily they did. If not we were going to give him a ride into town in the bed of my truck.

I've gone down several different fire roads through Los Padres; where exactly is that where the truck went off the path?

    Can't imagine how that happened

South coast ridge road, a little north of burros road.

I asked. He said he was driving too fast, hit the brakes too hard after a decline down hill locking them up, and he skid off. Luckily he got stuck. It was a long way down. Real nice guy traveling the US. Just needed help.

    Damn that's crazy.

Just had to ask; I run my Prerunner all over there and it's all easy. But yeah makes sense what happened to him.

I did run into someone that ran out of gas at the top of Prewitt last year

Gave him and his girlfriend the 5 gallons I had in my jug.

First one nighter @bowman Lake this past Friday night. Got there at 10am and it was jam packed. Did not realize How busy this place was. Saturday on the way back, Lake Spaulding and the Yuba Fork was packed with vehicles parked along both side of the road for about a mile.

Although it was busy, great little getaway and folks there was friendly and respectful. Love the rigs out there.

LoL it was hot but not as hot as South Sac. I caught a little trout, too small to keep, there it back. Drank a lot of Modelito though.

Are you going to be on the trail the 4th? Sounds like it’ll be a fun time.

Yessir! Headed up Wednesday to beat the rush for the good sites. My Friends dad has a new gladiator I’m trying to convince him to “break in” and run the trail with me :D
I’ll be camping on Utica side for the most part doing fishing and catching a buzz

I'm not a jeep guy, but saw a gladiator up close last weekend and it was pretty rad.

    Nice!

I wonder how impacted the trail will be. Might be fun to go check it out.

Although nothing worse than getting stuck in the middle of a trail after it turns into a parking lot.
