I took my billet Icon UCAs to a well-known shop that specializes in offroad vehicles to have them press the DJs in since buying a press large enough to fit the Icon adapter tool would have been an additional 100-150. Here's what they managed to do to the brand new UCAs. In addition to all of the cosmetic damage they mangled the channel for the retaining ring on one so bad that the ring could be removed using just your fingernail.

Took about a month but they ended up working some kind of deal with Icon for a brand new set that came with the DJs pressed from Icon.

It's deer control. Works too well - keeps them out of my field of view even while hunting.

Glad to read that. I worked as a machinist in a prior life, and that looks like some apprentices first week on the job just getting to know what a press and hand tools are all about. Total bollocks! I would have been livid. Glad they did right by you in the end.

Did they just present them to you as "Here you go, have a nice day." or did they say, "um yeah, well, we had a little trouble...."????

Went out to bring our trash cans back in and noticed this cool pattern of water beading on the hood:

    IMG_2140.jpg

Can't tell if this means my wax job is good... or bad since it's not actually beading OFF the hood.

And then a pic just for the fun of it:

Lol yeah I was pretty pissed ... especially when I made sure they knew that the UCAs were aluminum (soft) and the DJs could only be properly pressed in with the adapter tool. Judging from this pic it looks like the one on the right was pressed correctly. Glad they eventually owned up to it, but it cost them all the business from local Tacoma guys.

Your smorgasbord of mismatched and ill fitting switches are triggering my OCDness. However, i appreciate the proper modding you are about to do to your truck!

Seeing so many posts in here with everyone copying each other with pro grills and stickers and I washed my engine bay nonsense...

cheers for function over style..

Painted the crossbar that @EatSleepTacos made to connect my BAMF HD Hangers. Installing tomorrow after letting the paint fully cure over night.

Pulled out the silver dash trim around the stereo head unit and painted it black. It looks more factory than the silver I also pulled out an amp that was installed behind the back seats that was in there from the previous owner never hooked up.

Any Mods? One. Maybe two, tops...
SCREW THAT! I hate some of those shops, sometimes they’re all about volume.

Let’s be honest, nobody is going to care for your Taco as much as you.

I bought a big enough press for me to get it done, and I’m going to TAKE MY TIME and be careful. Don’t want to chew up the aluminum UCAs.

IMHO, the extra expense in getting my own tool is worth it. Not scratching the shit out of a $1400 pair of billet aluminum UCAs will be alright with me.

    This is what I got:

    https://www.amazon.com/OTC-6736-C-Frame-Forcing-Assembly/dp/B005J3LOSK

I want to do it myself, because I actually did think that if I go to a shop, they’re gonna rush and probably jack it up.

Glad you got a new set though. What is the benefit from the crossbar? I just got some BAMF hangers myself.

Connects the hangers which helps improve the ride quality and adds torsional rigidity.
