Im probably vslightly slower than stock and she still kind of hunts for gears when going up a hill. Not bad though, I’m pretty use to it now. They say 4.88 with an auto for that reason but I went against the odds

I just regeared to 4.88's and tach at about 27xx @ 75mph. I'm on 285/70/17 and 4.0 AT. Reason I went with 4.88 is my truck is a pig and the RTT drag doesn't help either. Now I can drive all the way to work in 5th gear whereas before it would hunt.

A little bit of a bump. How do you like the 4.56?? I have a 2nd gen on 33's with armor, 2 extra full size tires and extra fuel. Will 4.56 be good enough even if I want to tow like a 20 foot camper once in a while ?

I sold the truck as I was pulling a 22 ft trailer. I was not satisfied how the Tacoma towed. I now own an F150 with a 3.5 Ecoboost. Best decision of my life. Tacoma has a small gas tank and you already get bad gas mileage in a Taco by default. Add big tires and a camper and you will barely get 125 miles out of a tank.. The F150 has tow package and is powerful. I loved my Tacoma but man the F150 is just way more capable at everything. One thing when towing. Add some Timbren SES for towing no matter what.

:eek:how fast are you hauling that trailer?! Fully armored 33s stock gears towing a shitty heavy huge Uhaul down Ca I was averaging 200-225 miles to a tank.

65mph. Going faster had me more concerned even though speed limit was 70-75 mph in some areas.

I'm with bbaggett, just not selling my Taco. I pull an 18' bass boat regularly. The Taco will pull it & stop it but not comfortably. I have a dodge ram that does it well. If I could have one truck, I'd have to keep the Dodge Ram.

I only have one daily driver truck. I have since moved up even further now and sold the 22 ft camper and now have a 29 ft camper and nowhere near hitting the 12k lbs it tows. I now have way more options with the F150 and get about the same gas mileage as the Tacoma. It was the right decision.

Tacoma is a fun truck but you have to have the right vehicle for the applications you need.

I plan to regear my 07 Tacoma V6 2WD LB with 33s tires already installed, and possibly adding more stuff into it like roof and bed racks, etc later on.

What Ive been using mostly on this truck is for camping, possibly pulling small size of trailer in the weight range of 1,722 to 3,377 lbs.

What gear ratio should i use for this application, and brand do you recommend?

Beside it building up oil in the airline, which keeps it from locking, been good. When I get in a situation where I think I'll need it locked, I'll just disconnect the line and blow the fluid out with the compressor and it should lock. I'm also locked in front as well, so the brick is extra beastly now.

Any idea what could cause oil to build up in the airline? I remember sending the 3rd back to ECGS and they replaced a seal that kept it from locking. That was venting out of the diff breather though, so that could be unrelated... Not 100% sure on that..

Dang, that is awesome! YOu had a chance to put it through it's paces yet? Id assume you wouldnt have issues with breaking things unless doing something stupid. Does this sound accurate?

I think that the seal may still be the issue with it. Haven't had a chance to wheel since last March. Going to take a trip to HF Thanksgiving weekend and will get to really test out alot of things then.

Had to do some digging, but looks like original order was placed 3/28/18 so should be well within the warranty period
