I put a washer behind the top of the mount so its angled slightly to lessen the chance of it getting caught when closing. 2 GFC t nuts per mount.

Thanks! I'm looking to do something like this but was worried I couldn't get a solid mount and was worried of a shovel falling off.

That looks awesome, well done with that. Is there a reason you didn't want to mount them on top? I'm thinking about getting some beef racks as like you, I'm tired of the shovel in my camper, along with recovery boards, gas/water jug in the camper.

keeping my height as low as i can... right now i'd just be able to fit into a 7' garage with very little room to spare... roof has the solar panels and the fan sticking up. that's as much height as i want/can afford.

roof rack could fit them behind the maxtrax, but not very convenient to access. ideally i want to keep that area open if i wanted to put my roadshower up there for longer trips

getting deaver stage III installed this week (bumping up from stage II), so i'll most likely lose any extra room i had for that 7' limit

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
From SoCal to Ga, GFC has a new home with the ACC Garage family.
The cutdown on the Prinsu wasn’t too shabby ;)

For those of you that liked @2ayne suggestion of the Duluth Trading Company Back Seat Bunker for organization in the front of the GFC it's finally back in stock after many months away.

I saw that. Tempted to buy one since they're hard to get, but should probably wait until I get the GFC at least

I didn't want to start a whole new thread on this. Does anyone have the interior clearance height from the bed to the top of the GFC with the camper closed and all the panels in place? I emailed GFC and they replied about 39". That seems short as the section that overhangs the cab seems at least 2-3" higher than the cab.

Much appreciated if anyone has or is willing to take the measurement.

Little confused by "interior clearance" vs "from the bed to top of the GFC". I just measured from the top of the truck bed ridges to the underside of the gfc bed platform and that came out to 41.5". Hopefully that's the measurement you were looking for, if not, I can take a different measurement for you.

Edit: I should note that's on a 3rd gen with stock bed rail caps.

And that will vary by an inch or so depending on generation and what type of bed side caps you have.

thank you that is exactly what I was looking for. The 39” response from GFC seemed really low. I appreciate it.

and yes this would be on a Gen 3 DCLB.

PS - this is the same height I have read about in Mid-rise toppers approx depending on brand, which is why 39” seemed low.

I was almost crushed today by a falling RTT!!!

Apparently my RTT got angry as it was put up in storage since the recent GFC purchase.

Mounted a shadow awning on my GFC. Having a corner bracket fabricated for the rear area to help support the hinge.

I am very interested in seeing how you did this. I may move my shadow wing to the GFC.
