I would not. But at least a fire with gasoline can be put out fairly quickly with the right extinguisher.
The lithium Ion battery pack in these cars is a smoldering ember that resist attempts at being put out.
So the lack of design to make sure this does not happen has been overlooked.

My bike has a tip over switch that not only shuts off the ignition but also stops the fuel flow from being spilled.
This function would not help if the tank had a hole in it. But at least it is something.

 

I've seen hybrid buses here, no reports of any catching fire yet, or they've been covered up. They must have huge batteries.

 

Over 10 years ago A guy I worked with was on vacation in Puerto Rico to see his family.
He landed at the airport and got a small rental car for his travels. He said he drove all over in that
car, and was amazed by how good a gas mileage it got. Then he went to turn the car back in at the
rental agency and the car was still nearly full. A guy at the gas station told him he thought the car has a propane tank
in the trunk. sure enough. It was running on Propane the whole time. Even though it had a full tank of gas. as well.

The odd thing is we don't have this in the USA. They say it's too dangerous. But we use propane in all kinds of industrial
machines, Forklifts for one, And I have never heard of any catching fire or exploding.

It just seemed odd to me that other countries can adapt ideas we see as dangerous - to be somewhat common place.

 

People I know have had propane powered trucks.

 

I have heard of older 4x4 trucks and rock crawler jeeps running propane because it is not effected
angle or pitch as vehicles with Carbs are. And in some cases may be a cheaper to convert to propane
than to invest in a fuel injection setup. But for mass rental car fleets it is not used at all.

 

Actually, the name of the car is Concept One. According to Road and Track magazine, it was a demonstrator for the Concept 2 production model that is now being built., so it was in a sense a concept car. According to published reports, Rimac got orders for 5 cars based on what the public saw (the performance of the car, not the burning, lol) in that episode of The Grand Tour...at a million dollars a whack. I’d say as a demonstrator, it served its purpose. The Concept One had about 1200 hp. The Concept Two has over 1900 hp.

...^^^... There are many propane buses, garbage trucks and a few commercial trucks here in ATL. Maybe to slow pollution in the city and the burbs ?

 

People I know did it because it used to cost less.

 

Garbage and recycling trucks here are natural gas powered. They missed one recycling pickup because something broke and they couldn't fuel them.

 

"Wow, look at that car burn! I want one of those!"

The new ones come with an extinguisher that pokes fun at Hammond.
"In case of hillclimb, extinguish fire"

If you notice the name brand on the extinguisher is "Pastor" You will need a pastor and his phone number and address for the next service
in which they will be remembering you.

A Challenger with a Shaker is quite rare, I vaguely remember that option was cancelled because it lowered crash test ratings.

 

It was a stunning rare original. In really good daily driver condition. Not a show car example.
But more like a one owner that kept it in the garage. You can see some surface rust showing under the hood.
Still it would most likely bring 6 figures at auction.
